In Twisted Pixel's new game LocoCycle, you play as a sentient motorcycle named I.R.I.S. Very little about the title has been discussed so far, but the title will get its public debut at PAX Prime 2012 later this week. For now, we've got gameplay footage and a second video which shows the game's voice cast.
I'm not entirely sure what's going on or why that person is being dragged, but the fact that they don't (to my knowledge) explicitly explain who he is makes me laugh. Based on this trailer, LocoCycle looks like Spy Hunter with hit combos. I'm ... interested, actually.
Twisted Pixel will be bringing real-life I.R.I.S. and S.P.I.K.E. motorcycles built by Southern Metal Choppers and Legacy Effects to PAX at booth #3012. There will also be gameplay demonstrations where more is hopefully made clear.
As shown in this video, Lisa Foiles will voice I.R.I.S., while Robert Patrick takes on the role of antagonist S.P.I.K.E. I'm not convinced this whole game wasn't just a ploy for Twisted Pixel to hang out with Patrick.
"Twisted Pixel is being shut down and all staff being redirected or laid off because sh*tty looking LocoCycle failed to meet sales expectations, shocking news outlets and investors alike, despite the fact that it indeed always looked like sh*t."
That guy being dragged is super distracting. Just remove him from the bike, and gimme the bike as some sort of Iron Man suit / Robotech / Transformer experiment gone mad or escaping it's creators.
Twisted Pixel are awesome, this game look shockingly bad but without trying it nobody knows yet. I will give the demo a go just because it is Twisted Pixel but after this video I'm not optimistic.
Man, what's with the Twisted Pixel hate in the comments? :\
I think it looks awesome, following Twisted Pixel's tradition of doing something completely different (nearly) every time, and making it just so silly and adorable. See what else they reveal at PAX... maybe have it playable? :D :D :D
Terrified this will be for Kinect though... although with two games from both Twisted Pixel and Double Fine and Boxing Day/Black Friday sales coming in a few months (combined with the recent price cut) I could be convinced to pick one up.
I'll play it just because of Lisa. Just put up a screen of her, with the bike audio. I won't be able to see my bike behind her picture, but doesn't matter. I'll just push random buttons.
It looks fun. The only bad thing I see with Twisted Pixel games is that, while they have a visually amusing concept, the humour in the dialogue falls flat. Quoting movies in a monotone voice is just boring and lazy.
I love most of what Twisted Pixel has put out (their sense of humor is WONDERFUL), but nothing here looks good. The racing/fighting shows nothing new or interesting, the scripted lines were pretty bad and sorry, Lisa, having a calm, monotone, robotic voice in the middle of chaos is not something new.
I don't mind them branching out from platformers (although they do a wonderful platformer), as long as they inject their normal sense of humor and quirkiness in. That's what I buy their games for, to have fun and get a good laugh.
I'll try it on the Twisted Pixel name alone, but unlike most every other game I've seen a preview of, of theirs, this did not get me excited at all.

Leave it to Twisted Pixel to make me wet with excitement with just one teaser. LocoCycle will see you playing as a motorcycle that graduated valedictorian from assassination school. Knowing the beards at Twisted Pixel, the game will feature their wonderful sense of humor and great characterization.

Just a few weeks ago, we were picking over Gran Turismo 6 rumors, and now here we are with our very first preview. I was surprised to walk into a hands-on opportunity just one day after the title was officially announced. Surprised and pleased.
