Twenty free Rock Band 2 tracks listed, dated for early November photo

Remember the code on the back of your Rock Band 2 instruction manual that you'll eventually be able to use to obtain another code which will grant you access to 20 free bonus songs? Well, we now know what those tracks are and when they'll be available.

First off, the 20 RB2 tracks will be available on Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network starting November 4, with the songs for the Wii version being held off until December. Without further adieu, here are the freebies:

  • The 88 - "Sons and Daughters"
  • Authority Zero - "No Regrets"
  • Between the Buried and Me - "Prequel To The Sequel"
  • The Cab - "Bounce"
  • The Chevelles - "Get It On"
  • The Cocktail Slippers - "Give It To Me"
  • Dealership - "Database Corrupted"
  • Endeverafter - "I Wanna Be Your Man"
  • The Ghost Hounds - "Ashes To Fire"
  • Hollywood Undead - "Young"
  • Kutless - "The Feeling"
  • The Len Price 3 - "If I Ain't Got You"
  • Lesley Roy - "I'm Gone, I'm Going"
  • Opiate for the Masses - "Burn You Down"
  • Semi-Precious Weapons - "Magnetic Baby"
  • Shaimus - "Like a Fool"
  • Thenewno2" - Crazy Tuesday"
  • Tickle Me Pink - "The Time Is Wrong"
  • Underoath - "Desperate Times, Desperate Measures"
  • X Japan - "I.V."
Sadly (and not shockingly), these tracks don't match the quality of the superb disc-based songs Rock Band 2 owners have grown to love. However, it should go without saying that free is free, and it's a nice gesture from Harmonix regardless.

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME!!!!! Finally! I love those guys. The lyrics to "Prequel To The Sequel" are actually very neat. The song is supposedly about how the Earth has loved mankind and all mankind has done is just strip it of everything. It does surprise me that they picked this song as opposed to many others of BTBAMs. "Selkies: The Endless Obsession" or "Viridian" would have worked well. Or "Laser Speed".

I don't even care about the other bands...

meh, when it acutally had a space to put what you would like to see, I was hoping they'd really look at it. I'd rather have paid for Rock Band 2 without the twenty free songs.

But whatever, hopefully one or two will be good. Otherwise, its just cluttering my hard-drive.

Wow, I'm... stunned. I wasn't expecting The Beatles and Van Halen, but I was hoping for at least something I've heard of. That said, I'll give them a chance, after all it'll only take a bit of hard drive space and a few minutes to download. Maybe I'll be surprised, after all my favorite all-around song on RB2 is "Conventional Lover", and that's by one of the HMX Bonus Bands.

And if they suck, I can just delete them.

@DJP3DRO

the reason i'm not getting rock band 2 is because they're only releasing the first one here in australia around mid november. yes that's right. and guitar hero is not shit, you wouldn't have your precious rock band without guitar hero.

* Between the Buried and Me - "Prequel To The Sequel"
* Underoath - "Desperate Times, Desperate Measures"
* X Japan - "I.V."

These for free plus a free Dream Theater song on the disc...I'm liking Rock Band 2 already and haven't even played it yet!

I'll download them and see how they are before I pass judgment. Free is free. I wasn't expecting famous bands, anyway, even though it would have been nice to throw in one or two.

My wife, though, probably won't like this. She hates singing songs she doesn't know, after failing at Reptilia.

Fail.

They should have just released them without the earlier announcement. They should pay us to play these, these bands are getting huge exposure from this.

This just in...20 free TKurata tracks for Rock Band 3. OHMIGOD!!!!

What no Freezepop?

A lot of these songs are nice, but it just makes me sad because all my friends base which song we're going to play on whether they can sing it or not.

James: Hey lets play BTBAM!

WHINY SELFLESS CLOSED-MINDED FRIEND: I CAN'T SEENG DEM SONG!!! BOSTON AGIN PLZ

Wow, I decided I hate Rock Band 2 two days after I got it. Here it is 3 days later and they just gave me a pat on the back. Harmonix, I love you, stick to innovating, because you suck at "improving".

@nukka jdav: I feel your pain, man. I have that same problem a lot. But a very close friend of mine will sing ANYTHING on expert, it's great! She makes me get all her guitar achievements though...which is kind of tedious, but it's all good.

HAI GUIZE!!

These aren't just random "unknown" bands. Harmonix has always included local Boston bands and Harmonix bands in their games as bonus songs. In the past, they have sometimes been some of the best songs in the game.

Seriously, play All of This by Shaimus from GH, Gemini by Brian Kahanek from GH2, or anything by Bang Camaro or Vagiant.
Also, Freezepop.

I'm super excited for new music. And at the end of the day, you're not paying for any of it, so STFUAJPM.

Between the Buried and Me is NOT, repeat for emphasis, NOT even REMOTELY close to the best metal band ever. The music is bad ass until the "singer" jumps in with the stereotypical garbage growling.

Wicked guitar work though.

give me Dark Empire!

In the past HMX's bonus songs have been pretty darn good, so I'm too worried. These should be fun.
