Turn it up: Gran Turismo 5 Prologue soundtrack details revealed photo

We already know that Gran Turismo 5 Prologue looks real purdy. Now Sony sends along details on how next month's release will sound.

A press release tells us that soundtrack is headlined by an in-game exclusive remix of Weezer's "Automatic," from the band's upcoming album and an EL-P remix of Mars Volta's "Goliath."  Expect indie dance rock, electronica, classic rock and remixes, with musical acts like Weezer, Mars Volta, Justice, The Klaxons, Friendly Fires and DJ Shadow in the line up of a dozen exclusive singles.

"The Gran Turismo 5 Prologue soundtrack gives fans the perfect audio accompaniment to high-octane racing from Daytona to Eiger Nordwand," said Jeff Reese, director, software marketing, SCEA. "The edgy variety of music complements the pure adrenaline rush fans experience as they eclipse 200 miles-per-hour in the most authentic driving simulator around."

In my book, Gran Turismo music has ranged from smooth jazz borefests to off-the-wall goodness. What has never made sense to me is the weird range of tracks in these games. Remember the Snoop Dogg track? What the hell was that?

Hit the jump for the full list of songs for the North American version.

Not a bad soundtrack. I wonder what that El-P song will sound like, because he's outstanding but Mars Volta are god awful. I'm also curious to see how good the DJ Shadow song is, because although he was one of the best musicians of the 90's he has been pretty meh in recent years. And Justice is always good.

I doubt that this music will make me experience that, however it's a lot better than the Feeder-fest that made up the Gran Tourismo 3 soundtrack.

Gran Turismo always seems to have a pretty decent soundtrack, but I think the sound effects are far more important. I want it to sound like I'm driving a car, the music is just a bonus.

That's a decent lineup. Hopefully they'll keep all of those songs on the full version, because, again, I'm not paying $40 for a demo.

Put in some Initial D songs, and I'll even buy a PS3 for this game...

Only decent ones there's Justice and DJ Shadow. It's also a bit strange that tracks on the international version seems vastly different than the japanese version. Anyhow, looking forward to more smooth tunes.

Wait, this demo has sound? 11/10!

Do we have custom soundtracks like the 360 yet? I haven't booted up since uncharted came out.

The music will never please everyone. At this point it doesn't matter to me because I'm with the people here that are not paying $40 for a demo. I don't care how good it looks, I can wait for the full version.

I allways kinda liked the music in Gran Turismo, even if some of them were unknown, most of the music is generally good drivingmusic :-) ( just absolutely hate the menu-samples :p )

Awesome. LA Riots remixed Weezer? There's abundance of Ed Banger stuff like Justice, SebastiAn & Kavinsky. If there's a Testarossa in there, then it'll need more Kavinsky for sure. Just Rick Roll this bitch then you'll have the perfect soundtrack.

I have no problem with the UK price. Its £18 most sites online. Full games are usually £35-£40 when first released. I don't know of any other demo that has 6 tracks, 16 players online and a lot of cars to unlock.

Even in its half finished state its the best racer on the market.

Personally I prefer 'Kickstart my Heart' by Queensryche from GT3:A-Spec. taking my ae86 around the course (which ironically enough, predated my knowledge of Initial D) was extremely cool... except for the other 90% of the time I spent spinning out or otherwise going off course. :(

I thought that "Kickstart my Heart" was from Motley Crue, not Queensryche :p

-- Justice - "Let There Be Light" = WIN! :OD

-- DJ Shadow - "LOVE LOVE" = Unsure. DJ Shadow has done some great stuff in the past, but I wasn't too thrilled from what I heard about his last album.

-- Does it Offend You, Yeah? - "With a Heavy Heart (I Regret to Inform You)" = WIN!

-- The Klaxons - "Golden Skans" = WIN! :OD

I've never heard of any of those artists, but I've liked most of the music in all the past games, so hopefully this will be no different.
