Brink developer Splash Damage and the game's publisher Bethesda released a new video showing off the titles in-depth character customization. But instead of simply shooting us the FTP information or pointing us to a URL, they sent us a tube of goodies.
Inside the tube were two prints, each showing one of the game's different character archetypes and classes. Also include was a fancy USB card. On that card is the video you see above, which we also posted earlier. The game's director goes into detail on Brink's character customization, featuring more muscles than I believe are possible for a human being to have.
Wondering where this particular style comes from? It's a bit of a hodgepodge, with folks who worked on Prince of Persia, Mass Effect, and Killzone 2 all on the Brink team. It's a bit over the top, but set within the game's world, I think it's looking pretty fantastic.
Now I get "with folks who worked on Prince of Persia, Mass Effect, and Killzone 2 all on the Brink team" thats why there is a free-run mechanic and awesome character customization all combined with good graphics.
Brink looked fantastic at PAX, but they didn't let anyone film it because they were afraid of criticism. If I were them I would have urged recording, it looked great. It has the movement of mirror's edge, the classes of Team Fortress 2, and the persistent leveling character of Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Here's hoping that they managed to make a great game out of all these fantastic ideas.
