Tropico 3 will feature user-generated content on Xbox 360 photo

The Tropico series is known for touching heavily on the subject of Communism, so it's highly fitting that Tropico 3's downloadable content will be made by the people, for the people. The biggest surprise is that the Xbox 360 version will feature the content, despite shunning mods and user-build add-ons in other games.

Kalypso Media has not confirmed a price or any real details for the content, only stating that it is happening. In any case, it should be an interesting situation, provided Microsoft doesn't charge us out the arse for it ... oh wait, that's probably what's going to happen.

While we wait and see how this unfolds, check out six new screenshots for the game.

Should be free for most of them. Maybe a LBP-esque structure with most user generated content as free, with the possibility of professionally(kinda) made levels costing. O WAIT, I forgot about microsoft. Microsoft will force you to make it cost, and force you to charge out the ass for this. Give control to the developers microsoft, or fuck off.

That's great, except every single individual piece of content is going to have to go through MS certification. Which is a BIG fail.

I've played the PC demo of this and it was pretty fun, but I'm not interested in this kind of game on a console. Especially the Xbox.

I tried the demo for Tropic 3 on PC, and it's pretty much confirmed me a purchase... if it wasn't for borderlands and DA:O, one of which I still need to pick up. I'll probibly get it after this xmas.

The demo was really really fantastic. The game is fun as hell if you are into city-building type games with a bit more... communism and dictatorial island regieme involved.

There's so many options in the game it's mind boggling. Everything from publicly exicuting faction leaders against political factions you don't like to gay marriage, to trying to be a bannana republic to trying to make the hottest tourist site in the world. It's like the ultimate sim city game for me <3

This is a feature that I'm not sure why many developers have forgotten. As crappy as Far Cry Instincts Predator was, at least you could make damn good levels with it. I used to boot that game up simply to create stuff.

I haven't had the time to play the game but I looks pretty sweet from what I've heard. I want to be a dictatorial cunt to my people!

Too bad the game isn't very good, in my opinion. Some people like it, but the general consensus on PC is that it does not live up to its legacy.

Ah, so this is gonna be like Unreal Tournament 3 for PS3?
I love using mods in that game ^_^

@ StingingVelvet,

I don't believe that's the consensus at all. The game garners good reviews from critics and fans of the series alike. I for one played Tropico when it debuted in 2001 and am a big fan of the third one. They really kept the spirit of the game alive. I think if you look around I'm not alone in thinking this.

Yeah, we could definitely use some more Tropico coverage. Did you guys review this game?

@Stinging

Uhhh what? Everywhere I've heard says the game is great.

Sure it's pretty much Tropico 1 with a new coat of paint and a few new features/buildings, but Tropico 1 is over 10 years old now, and a game not many have played. I've never played it and this game is fucking great.
