Toucans are the best birds in the world, and so I'm delighted to be hearing that PC strategy game Tropico is making its Xbox 360 debut with the release of Tropico 3. To be honest, I know very little about the series, but any game with toucans in it is a friend, so I hereby resolve to be interested in Tropico for the rest of my life.
According to our resident PC guy Jonathan Ross, Tropico is basically Civ with more communism and jokes about oppressing South Africans. This new game isn't being made by the original developers, so we'll have to see how true to the spirit of the series this new title sticks.
We have a teaser for you after the jump, so make sure you watch it.

I really enjoyed the the PC based games, even if I was rubbish at it and had to cheat constantly. Must have been doing a good job, as I never had to bribe the people in order for an election win, Iran style.
Hopefully this game will be as awesome if not even more so.
Professor Pew is right, it is the greatest Pirate SIM EVER. Seriously it is amazing. Reminded me a lot of Utopia. Except prettier. I never played Tropico 1 but man 2 (Pirate Cove) was amazing.
Do I still install that and play it every once in a while because nothing has replaced it.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
And the winner is...
Wrong, of all city-building games Tropico is one of my favorite's.
I hope they'll make a mix between the Pirate capture mechanic and the 3rd world economy this time. Maybe they could set it in Somalia?
@Professor Pew
Somewhere Sid Meier is crying.
Plus there are Toucans, so yeah I'm going to be watching to see how this game turns out.
Hopefully this game will be as awesome if not even more so.

I played the beta and the third one is a lot more like the first Tropico than the second... This game is definitely gonna be awesome.
