Sony has confirmed that the footage showing a Trophy collection on the screen of a PSP was, in fact, showcasing the remote play feature of the system. It seemed like the more likely explanation for the footage, but even so, it gives me a sad in my heart.
"The screen shown on the end of the video showcases the Remote Play function on a PSP," confirms a Sony rep, “allowing you to take a look at your XMB, Trophies, friends and other content via your PSP. As it’s such a great feature and unique to the PlayStation format we wanted to showcase it."
I guess Trophies on PSP was too good an idea for Sony to embrace. It might make the PSP more successful, and Sony seems strongly against the idea of that ever happening. Ah well.
PSP “Trophies” grab was Remote Play for PS3, says SCEE [VG247]

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Because there's lots of handheld games that have been released in the last couple of years with their own internal - and more rewarding - achievement systems.
Try out the Phantasy Star Portable 2 Demo for an example. It has 11 achievements to unlock with in-game rewards. Its kept me playing the demo well past seven hours and more will be available in the final version in a few weeks. Well, that and the online play. None of that Ad Hoc Party bullshit this time.
Trophies, by contrast, kinda suck.
MY DS is great too it doesn't have achievement systems in place and it is the best selling handhold this side of the pacific..and the other side too.
Personally, I achievement whore to outdo my friends and to get a sense of completion from a game. With that said, I don't see why the people who cheat the system would be an issue for anyone who isn't part of that 100-200 people who achievement/trophy whore to be competitive.
Well of course you remember playing games without a pat on the back, you haven't shown your face in 11 years, I'm surprised you know what a trophy IS even-ah.

I love how Sony can design a wonderful system like remote play and yet I still can't make PSN purchases or message my friends from my web browser at work.
Trophies would just be superfluous on the PSP.
Also, if he had bothered to read (assuming he can), then he proabably missed the bit implying discussion instead of just joing everyone else in a round of "Lets see who can repeat the first posters commment regarding the validity of the posts picture and completely ignore the words 'Nevertheless, it's something to consider, and a good chance to sound off about whether you think Trophies should come to the PSP' game".
Or something.
I don't know about you people, but I enjoy having a list of games I've completed, trophies and all tied to my online PSN account. I don't see why it would be a memory issue when it should be small to impliment.
I'd play a lot more PSP games if trophies were available, but my 360 commands more attention because all 360 games have them. Sony should get on this quick, for while iPhone has a similar system, something as simple as trophies could save PSPs fortunes, especially if you could actually redeem trophies for credit and a new game.
