The first real look at Tron Legacy finally invaded the Internet this week. I still haven't watched the original Tron so I don't really know what's going on here aside from the obvious. The obvious being that a kid is looking for his lost father and enters Tron.
Also, Olivia Wilde is wearing a skin tight outfit. So hot.
Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
thank you
WHY HAVEN'T YOU SEEN TRON YET??? THERE IS NO EXCUSE!!!
Also, trailer seems a little shaky, but I'm optimistic.
What an ironic twist. In an age where computer-generated imagery is so prevalent, set designs and costumes that were originally rendered in CG now have physical analogues that look simply glorious.
Plus, I just can't get over Wilde with a mod haircut. Always knew she was empirically attractive, but that just launches her to HOT status in my book.
Also, I love Tron and this doesn't look too bad. It looks pretty at the very least. Especially in HD. My god.
Why? It's boring, they throw discs at each other and Matrix already made a computer simulation good.
Also first part of this trailer really feels like The Dark Knight. Which is awesome.
Hamza, go watch TRON. Now. I'm not fucking around.
Also yeah, if anyone hasn't seen TRON, fix that please.
... Go watch it. NOW.

THIS IS WHY YOU NEED TO WATCH THE FIRST MOVIE DAMMIT!
I got my hopes up for a solid 30-45 seconds, and I only got 5.
"Why? It's boring, they throw discs at each other and Matrix already made a computer simulation good."
Obviously, you're drunk.
"I don't care if you watch Tron or not, but I doubt the movie is about a boy entering Tron."
I laughed -so hard- at this.
I don't know how good the sequel will be but the first one was one of my favorites. I've also watched the original Tron recently and while it may seem a bit campy after we've come so far in gaming and cg in movies it's still a good watch.
I don't usually (never) fall in love with people I don't know, but the first time I saw her in House, I knew: I have to marry her, NOW!
Because the originsl movie...it's not good. This one couldn't possibly be as bad as the original. Well, unless I just jinxed it by saying that.
Hamza said it best: Olivia Wilde is wearing a skin tight outfit. At least they did that much. Trailer looks like a soundstage. Not that expect them to travel to an actual other dimention, but the trailer looks cheap.
Then again...if the sequel stays true then it needs to look cheap, have terrible acting and be hokey in the worst sense of the word.
Then it will have stayed true to the Tron legacy. A legacy of...uh...one movie from about 25 years ago.
And I saw it less than a year ago and it was still amazing. This looks like it will be the same.
I didn't understand it too much as a kid, but loved the style and characters. Watching it as an adult though, I can still enjoy those things as well as get more of the user/program god/man relationship symbolism, and the parallels between the way computers work and their manifestation as "places". It's a great timepiece too, since back then computers were relatively new. So, that's a lot to work with for TRON:Legacy being we've had a communications and technology boom since then.
NINETEEN EIGHTY THREE. You show me a movie at that time that created one that well with computers.
Being born in '87, I didn't see it until a few years ago (because I'm a Jeff Bridges fan). You're absolutely right that it doesn't look good (by todays standards) and that the acting is "hokey". However, I'd imagine that it looked pretty slick back then, and regardless, I think the style is fun at the very least. As for the acting, it's camp (like so many other movies from that era). If you get hung up on taking it too seriously, you're missing the point. So I'm an example of someone who has no nostalgia factor, enjoyed the original, and is looking forward to the sequel.
