Tron Guy's dream come true: a Tron sequel is in the works photo

The ENCOM Mainframe tells us that a sequel to the 1982 Disney move Tron is in the works.

The Hollwood Reporter says that commercial director Joseph Kosinski (who is also bringing us the remake of Logan's Run) is in final talks to direct the sequel to the classic video game CG movie. The new script is being penned by Eddie Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, who you might know as writers from Lost. The security program is not permitting further discussion of the story line (that's Tron speak for "the story is a secret").

Disney, we're all for a new Tron movie (and subsequent licensed games... maybe), but please, please do not let Wendy Carlos do another face-itchingly bad score.

Does anything turn a man on more than lightbikes?

The answer is no. Nothing.

Agree w/ chiefman, can't hollywood just let some movies die or are we going to be seeing remakes of halloween for the next 50 years... although zombie is a better choice for director than *insert douchebag director who makes movies with no plot, forced dialogue and a general disregard for the art of cinema*

NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! The best part about Tron was the awesome computer graphics and the look it had. I can almost gaurantee that this will disapear in the new move.

the cheap crappy glow is what made tron awsome..

but if they use a visual style close ot that of Tron 2.0 the video game im sure it would be a hit, that was one awsome game, from the music to the game play it was a WIN

Agree.

This movie has to be good or else... End of line.

I think this movie could rule. The creative team seems good thus far, and the potnetial is endless.

If it sucks, I'll be the first one to say so. But from what we know now, there is every reason to be hopeful.

Meh...

...

...

that's it. I really don't have a real side to join with on this one. I could care less about a sequel for Tron (divinity in film form that it is).

i'm a big tron fan, and i'm still scared about this news. it just means they can make a movie that won't be as good as the first, plus allow them to re-re-repackage the old movie again.

disney, break me like a disobedient house maid and prove me wrong, but i'm almost positive you don't have what it would take to make tron 2 be a 'good' movie.

on second thought... if tron knotts is hopeful..... i will at least remain neutral till i see it for myself.

Betcha top dollar Jessica Alba is gonna be in it.

God Tron 2.0 for the Xbox really sucked.

That is all I gotta say.

Unless Baliwood is making this, it will suck.
Then again if they are, pass me the chickpeas and the hummus my friend as I wait for the glorious black-light musical scene...

hey, don't knock the soundtrack to tron!

all they really need to do is copy the plot of the excellent pc game sequel. that would be awesome.

Tron 2.0 was a pretty slick little game for its day. I broke it out a couple weeks ago and had some fun.

That being said, the only way Tron 2 will be cool is if they get The Dude back in there. Jeff Bridges + Bowling + The Matrix = 100% pure awesomesauce.

Dale forgot to mention that Jessica Chobbot was the one who had the idea for this movie, and worked with Joseph to get a script written.

Dale, did you say that the original Tron score sucks?

Because if you did, then you're dead to me.

No really.

Any gamer dissing the music of Walter/Wendy Carlos has to be one crazy son of a bitch.

Please tell me I read that wrong.

OK...here's how cool this is. When I was a kid back in good old 1982, Tron was the best!! Now I'm older, my kids have seen Tron on DVD and THEY are excited about the likelihood of a 2nd Tron movie. I hope it happens!

The original Tron score was awesome and I will fight anyone who says otherwise.

Also, I seem to remember reading somewhere that Tron 2.0 (the game) was an actual sequel to the 1982 film, like Ghostbusters 3.
