Trials HD sells over 300k, developer responds photo

Trials HD has got to be one of the most addictive and harmful games in recent memory. "I just got 500 faults and didn't even beat the level I was playing. Screw this, I'm never playing it again. Ever." Flash forward twenty minutes later: "I can't take this anymore! I need my Trials fix!"

I cannot be the only one to have experienced this phenomena, as Trials HD has garnered 300,000 in sales. When asked for a comment by CVG, the developers said they were "proud."

RedLynx CEO Tero Virtala also had the following to say: "We're a smaller, 25-person multiplatform studio, and for us this is an excellent example of how digital download space opens up significant opportunities that might not otherwise be available for creative and talented smaller teams."

I think most of us will agree that Trials HD is indeed a terrific game. Thankfully, for the sake of my neighbors' ears, I completed all of the levels, so I should be set for not swearing, at least until the new downloadable content comes out.

I completed all the levels. But for some sick reason I keep going back to get better times and more medals. I must be nuts.

I don't consider a level "complete" unless I get a Gold. I pretty much only finish one level a sit down. I'm halfway done with Hard.

Yeah, there's no way in hell I'll ever get gold medals on the last ten or so levels. I'd probably punch a whole in my wall during the process.

I finally beat the final stage... granted I had like 75 faults... but still.

idk, the combination of price and lack of level sharing (beyond just friends) was my reason for passing. I still can't see myself picking it up.

@Jordan, yeah I thought I was ok at this game until I saw the Platinum medal times. I've got like 4 so far. don't think I'll get all of them, ever.

@tgammet Trials is worth the $15 and then some, you sir, are missing out.

I love to just sit back and play Down the Stairs for a few hours to unwind. Try to get the perfect launch and hit the overhang right after the flame pillars or try to bowl a strike.

I haven't had much time to play this since I bought it, there are just too many other arcade games that I have to plow through first (The Maw, 'Splosion Man, and Phantasy Star II, just to name a few). It's good to know that people are having fun with Trials, though. It makes me look forward to my eventual time with the game.

I stopped after i think the second level in the extreme difficulty. After spending a whole half hour trying to get over one little box i thought i was going to go insane. So close to destroying everything in my apartment. Not sure if ill go back to it. The skill games will always be fun though.

I loved going through the easy and medium stages, getting gold medals than topping all my friends best times. I enjoyed working my way through the hard levels, and I'm still trying to get golds on those. The skill games are great, the tournaments are fun. The friendly competition of going for high scores among people on you friends list is fun and implemented very well.

But seriously, screw those extreme levels. Screw them hard. I've wasted hours at a time just trying to complete that one difficult part, only to finally make it, then come up to another section just as hard or harder. That's where the game stopped being fun for me.

I love the game, I'm glad they did so well with it, and I'll probably buy whatever DLC they put out, but those extreme levels can die in a goddamn fire.

An awesome game indeed, tries the demo and I'm going to have to bag a copy. This is where DLC is a good positive thing, giving small devs vital income for their games. Shame it gets twisted into something dark by those larger devs/pubs.

Would be nice for PS3 owners, if they got it too, but that's unlikely to happen until in 2010, if ever, especially how MS have been selling it on Live Arcade. I'm sure its probably in the pipe, for when MS exclusivity runs out. As a small developer, they could do with the income from a PS3 version.

I thought at first it was a little overpriced at 1200 points, but I soon realised that the replay value in trying to beat your friends' scores was incredible....Have still yet to beat that infrenal last level; I won't even care if I get 3 billion faults, it will be worth it

I can't get past medium... This game blows... I'm going to try again for the 4000th time tonight after work.

Damn you, Trials.
