Activision has revealed a brand new trailer for Transformers: War for Cybetron, and it looks bloody awesome. Despite the worrying lack of Frank Welker, this video should be an awesome treat for fans of the proper Transformers -- the ones that existed before Michael Bay had inappropriate sexual conduct with our childhood memories.
Whether or not the game itself is any good remains to be seen, but for right now I am excited by this video. Getting the actual art direction right is the first step toward success, and that first step has most definitely been made. Anyway, check out the video and let us know what you think!

Meet the rest of the team
Now what the game will actually be, other than perhaps a more polished version of the premise given to us by the movie tie-ins, is still pretty mysterious.
I'm just wondering why exactly we want a Transformers game. What exactly exists in the franchise that would make an incredibly unique robot game? (Oh, right. They can turn into vehicles.)
I looove that they're using the original art direction and that trailer does look fantastic. But I'm skeptical on how well the gameplay will actually work out.
Finally more developers came to realize the error of their ways and start thinking more like Rocksteady. It's a good start, but I still need to see more.
Trypticon, Omega Supreme, Sound Wave, Starscream, fucking almost old school Megatron (not the Michael Bay scrap heap tribal tatto piece of shit), Bumble Bee, and Optimus. I can actually tell who is who in this trailer! I like it! Welcome back Transformers, you have been missed!
@ wolverine: Not to mention you can see glimpses of old-school Ratchet patching fellow Autobots up as Bumblebee defends the platform. I also think there's very fast glances of old-school Ironhide firing off some shots in a background shot. :) Very exciting trailer.
NOW Activision, if any of you there are reading this: remember what it took to get Batman: Arkham Asylum to critical acclaim... A few delays, a good development team, and
There were robots and things blew up. I could take a rational approach to anticipating this game. Instead, I may substitute rewatching this trailer for eating, using pure glee to sustain myself until the release.
@Tubatic
And where did those come from? Does this thing ever link back to an organic civilization or are those explanations the Transformer version of God?
@pedrovay2003 Before coming to Earth, actually seen in Episode 1, Season 1 of the original cartoon. The Transformers were on their home planet, their vehicle forms were more sci-fi but functions were the same. Such as Starscream was this crazy looking jet. As we see here.
I think this game covers the great war before the ran out of energon and found Earth. On Earth they took earthly vehicles as disguises, hence the normal looking cars and trucks during the rest of the show.
Sorry if I sound like an uber nerd about Transformers, but I love this show and the entire back history and mythos. Any thing pre-hollywood takeover is awesome!
I've never got into Transformers, and after seeing the movie I never thought I would. After seeing this trailer though, Robots in Disguise just got more interesting.
There is no excuse not to have Welker voice Megatron. Hopefully they'll get as many of the classic voice actors as possible to reprise their roles. Jazz and Starscream get a pass for obvious reasons.
these guys get it. they get the transformers. whether or not they can make a game that plays very well is another question, but at least we know they dont despise the transformers the way bay and his assclowns do. michael bay loves the transformers the way the character rachel phelps (owner) loved the cleveland indians in major league
Wow, if just because they respect the mythos and original aesthetics, this looks like it could be really awesome. Now we just need to see some gameplay.
I want gameplay, just like a good chunk of the rest here. That being said:
Holy ham-jamming fuck.
This looks awesome.
Consider my trousers pleasantly soiled.
If any game developer decides to create a game based on the Shattered Glass universe of the Transformers,I will completely forget Micheal Bay's trash heap of a "movie".Hot Rod + evil moustache =Epic awesomeness.
Hope that this game does a good thing for Transformers..........

MAYBE there won't be an fucking humans in this one?
Can we make that happen? Yeah?
So where do Transformers and Cybertron actually come from?

A larger wiser robot called Primus, or a group of robot/tentacle things with five faces... depending on who you ask.
And where did those come from? Does this thing ever link back to an organic civilization or are those explanations the Transformer version of God?
No, they were supposed to look like Cybertronian vehicles that just so happened to bear coincidental resemblances to Earth vehicles.

GOTFY!
I'm pretty sure that's Skywarp in the trailer. The jet looked black & purple. And yes, I'm that big of a nerd.
The guys who did Arkahm are making this game?! Holy cow! This should definitely be good!
(Face Palm)
I looked at Xhumation's comment and thought Rocksteady was making this game.
