Activision and Hasbro have announced a new game called Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark. Set to go with upcoming film Transformers: Age of Extinction, this third-person action game will feature 40 characters from two universes fighting to get the Dark Spark. Expect a release on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, PC and 3DS.

Players will be able to switch between playing Autobots and Decepticons during the single-player campaign. Multiplayer is also on the table, with the fan favorite Escalation mode returning. A new leveling system merges single-player and multiplayer into one development path.

Activision says to expect fast-paced running and gunning and vehicle action in the vein of High Moon Studios' past Cybertron releases.

Review: Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark

High Moon Studios set a decent bar with its Activision-published Transformers games in terms of quasi film tie-ins (though the crown still goes to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, in my book). None of them were mind-blowingly g...more

Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark trailer has a dinosaur and Linkin Park

Look, Transformers. As preposterously dangerous as all this mechanized warfare is, we let it slide. But, Linkin Park? That's a clear violation of the Geneva Convention and rightfully considered an international war crime. Someone book Optimus Prime a one-way ticket to The Hague.more

It looks like Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark has a horde mode

Activision put out a trailer showing off Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark's Escalation mode, which it's presumably titled because things escalate as it goes on. Or something like that. Look, you get to play as a Transformer, okay? Maybe that'll shut your dumb friend up that asks "Think that's Optimus Prime?" about every semi you pass on the interstate.more

New Transformers game looks just like all the other Transformers games

Another year another Transformers game. Is Rise of the Dark Spark going to be good? Well like the last games it'll probably just be average, which is just enough for anything that's a licensed series as it'll sell pretty goo...more

Bungie is finally fixing the awful Cryptarch trolling in Destiny

It took a few weeks, but Bungie is finally getting around to addressing one of the major problems with Destiny -- the first thing on the table is loot. Currently, the "Cryptarch" NPC deciphered unidentified items in an incred...more

Sad day: Bungie nerfs Destiny's loot cave

Bungie's grand social shooter Destiny has boiled down to an interesting and repetitive formula for a lot of players lately: fire into the darkness of a cave and hope some interesting gear drops. No world exploring, no co...more

Not a lot looks changed in Call of Duty's 'Power Changes Everything' trailer

For a trailer that boldly suggests that "power changes everything," Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare sure looks pretty similar to past installments in the franchise. I guess the guys jump higher before using their mega-de...more
