During tonight's VGAs, Ubisoft's Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands made its debut in trailer form. There wasn't much to see, but we have it for you anyway.
Crumbling buildings, girly men with perms and eye makeup, and sand. Lots of sand. "Sultans die, kingdoms fall, but the sand remains," the trailer says. It's crazy cinematic and cool, but tells us nothing. Well, it tells us a release date: May 2010.
I'm not hating on the new POP. Just the new trailer for the new POP.

Wow, that trailer was awful. I honestly think Ubisoft went with the old Prince because of the movie releasing in May. There is no other reason why this game would have to come out so soon.
This and Green Day: Rock Band are two prime examples of wasting valuable air time. Meanwhile we could've gotten a nice Rock Band 3 and Prince of Persia 2 tease. The PoP art style alone would have made it thrice as good as this crap.
Mmm, its just a teaser, so I'm not going to pass judgement, but it looks somewhat promising. The only PoP games I've ever played are The Sands of Time and the remake on XBLA, so maybe I'm not one to judge, but I'm interested in this one.
I'm completely irritated. I loved the last Prince of Persia and now they seem to be scrapping the plotline that they did a CLIFFHANGER WITH just to strut some Jake G. version out with the movie.
Sadly, Ubisoft has yet to see what happens to games that follow the plot of movies.
i think that what the person that was talking about green day rock band being a waste of air time means that instead of going back to the drawing board and finding new ways to make these games better, they're just reloading them, and chugging them out as fast as possible to make a profit
My wife and I were discussing this and I really want people to realize what Ubisoft did here.
1 .Ubisoft makes the Prince of Persia: Sands Trilogy
2. Disney makes the Prince of Persia movie based off of the Prince of Persia: Sands Trilogy
3. Ubisoft makes the Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands game off of the Prince of Persia movie which is made after the Prince of Persia: Sands Trilogy
The 2008 game had a gorgeous art style. Say what you will about the gameplay (I'll say that it was uninspired but mildly fun), but I don't really understand the criticisms of the look unless this new title is more to your taste. I'm going to have to agree with Dale's assessment that (style-wise) it looks quite bad. I don't really care what they do with the story or whether they want to cash in on the movie, but I pray to God that they don't completely abandon the other game's look because so many people criticized the gameplay.
Hey, look! The Prince is just like Jesus, a white boy in the Arabic world. But I guess I was asking too much to think with a reboot they'd actually make him look like he was FROM PERSIA. Finally, after all these years that would have been a nice touch.
I'm going to get all racist and say what do you expect from white people's interpretations. I can say that because I'm white...and hate white people. Ha.
What I really want to know is what beauty salon he goes to for his perfectly cut hair.
He perfectly fits the mold of Jake Gylendaal (did I even spell that right, because it was a guess) playing prince, since this prince looks like a modern day metro rich boy with no clue of what the character would be like hired to win over the MTV tweenagers for sales.
If that was the goal...this Prince looks like it's on the right track.
they better bring in something better, bigger and more bad ass than dahaka. those chase moments are the reason warrior within was the best of the trio for me.
It needs to go old school PoP. Sands of Time was awesome. The last game was okay, but there was less than no challenge thanks to Elika. It just didn't feel like PoP. I felt disconnected from the action from beginning to end.
I kinda preferred the art style of Sands of Time over the last meh effort, just personal preference.
3 more things. He wasn't princey enough in the last one. He needs that blinking dagger instead of that blinking tart. & then there's the bit about selling the proper ending as DLC for £7. Cheeky bastards.
I'll become excited for this when I know it's more like Prince of Persia & less like whatever that last effort was. I just wasn't Prince of Persia.
brilliant , this is what we need !!! when i want to know the next part of the series after the shocking end to the last one they release a totally new series !! wtf ., so no elika on this one ?? this is lame
Just wanted to drop a comment and say I am new to your blog and really like what I am reading. Thanks for the great content. Look forward to coming back for more.

What the hell's wrong with Rock Band: Green Day... they're an awesome band.
I am glad they are going away from the horrible cell-shaded series though. yay.

Doesn't this sound like horrible inbreeding here?
