Sony Computer Entertainment filed a trademark for something called P.S. Thanks. From the trademark description, filed on July 31st, it sounds like some kind of rewards program for PlayStation customers. Check out the trademark text for P.S. Thanks:
Entertainment services, namely, incentive rewards program geared toward quantifying, identifying and motivating top consumer base with the goal of promotion and sale of video game hardware and software.
What kind of rewards/incentive plan could Sony be working up? Maybe they're trying to match Nintendo's efforts with their Club Nintendo. That whole "top consumer base" seems to point to those who buy the most stuff. Who knows what they'll do. I like the name, though.
What would you like to see in a Sony rewards and incentive program?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
... I like the "buying more stuff" thing better than the platinum trophy thing. I buy a lot of new games... but don't finish too many of them!
Just kidding, it's got to be free games, PSN cards, and the usual assortment of Sony/Playstation-branded swag. Exclusive PSN downloads wouldn't be bad, either. I'm not sure what they could come up with (Sony doesn't have Game N Watch, after all) but I'm confident they could dig something decent up. Hell, make it some really crappy thrown together game with ads and a lot of people would probably be happy as long as it has trophies.
If they were to add some sort of incentive for earning trophies it definitely needs to be retroactive. Hanna Montana is about the only easy trophy whoring game that I haven't been able to bring myself to play and I might cry if that ends up permanently on my trophy list.
We need to start tossing the occasional live hand grenade into these marketing meetings if this is the best that they can come up with.
You haven't seen it until you've been through what us Europeans and our Aussie Comrades have been through.
Higher Prices/Late Releases/Inferior Service/Inferior Hardware.
That's loyalty.
This incentive shit is only copyrighted for USA apparently too =/
Europe is still a Playstation market overall
USA is an Xbox one.
I don't know why I buy their shit.
I've easily got 100 games from these bastards gimme mah free stooof!
Just sayin'.
@Aurain
you guys got vidzone, though, eh?
Also, thanks for reminding me of the saddest film ever. I haven't cried that hard since the Terminator 2 thumbs-up scene.
