Funny this news should come up today, as it was one of the hot topics we discussed in depth on the latest podcast (before we started prank calling people). One of our top grievances with the Wii is how passively connected it is to the internet, and what little it does with it. For example, owners of Zelda: Twilight Princess that got stuck in the buggy cannon room don't have the ability to download a patch to immediately resolve the problem (as we did with Diablo II every other day, remember?). Don't even get me started on lack of online play, but we've raked them over the coals enough on that one.
Nintendo is, at the very least, being good about fixing the problem the old way: you can mail in your defective disks for a replacement. Here's how to go about it:
(1) Call Nintendo customer service: 1-800-255-3700
(2) Kindly explain your problem while heckling their failure to patch games. Get authorization to send in your old copy.
(3) Send just the game disc (no case, etc.) to the following address:
NINTENDO OF AMERICA
ATTN: CS ADMIN
4900 150TH AVE NE
REDMOND WA 98052-5171
And all is well in the merry land of Hyrule again. You can read up more testimonials of this process over on the official Nintendo Forums.
