Toys 'R' Us wants to show you its Pokemans photo

All Toys “R” Us stores across the United States and Puerto Rico will be giving away a free Dragonite Pokemons this weekend. Just go to any Toys “R” Us tomorrow and Sunday from 12 to 4PM and you’ll receive a free Dragonite Pokemon for Pokemon Diamond and Pearl version. Nintendo of America will also be giving away a free Pokemon Ranger posters and a coupon for $5 off any Nintendo DS game as part of this Dragonite celebration.

The Dragonite people will be receiving will be at Level 50 and knows some strong attacks such as the Draco Meteor. It will even have a Yache Berry, an item that weakens ice attacks used against Dragonite [Editor's note: I don't know what any of this means. -- CTZ].

Pokemon holds a very special place in my gaming heart. Pokemon Blue and Red was all the rage at my middle school growing up. Everyone would always battle each other and have a really good time. Then a couple of friends and I found out two of the biggest glitches of the game and we all gained Level 250 Muks, Pickachus, Mewtwos and Mews. Kids pretty much stopped playing when that happened.

Do I regret being one of the kids responsible for spreading the Level cap glitch? No, not really.

I'll take a look, but what the hell? Dragonair doesn't even evolve into Dragonite until level 55! I call hax.

Also, <3 haikuninja.

Heh. I too have fond memories of pokemon blue and red. However I lost interest not because of a glitch but because of a girl.

Also I had to comment on how awesomely innapropiate the header picture is.

In similar fashion to Xhumation, I do not want to ask where you found that pic.

But I must.

You got your Mew from behind the truck after the S.S. Anne left, right? That's how real men get their Mew.

also, @BulletMagnet

I'm pretty sure the header pic was from an Art Attack Friday a few months back. I know I've seen it before, and I'm pretty sure it was on Dtoid.

I was a senior in HS when Pokemon blew up (99-00) and somehow my friends and I were obsessed with it. I wasn't very popular, one of the middle of the road guys, and I found out that one of the popular girls liked me and we started dating. I had no idea what to talk to her about, so I just kept talking about the level my charmander was at, and called her late one night when he evolved. The relationship ended shortly thereafter.

Brakah: FALSE! Pokemon stop gaining Levels legitimately once they hit 100 so I never had to worry about that. BWHAHHAHA

@wiiwillovercome: That's why you keep Pokemon on the hush-hush until you really know someone!

I hadn't played a Pokemon game since yellow until my current girlfriend got me into diamond and pearl so she's have someone to play with. Needless to say, I'm addicted again. We're gonna be at our local TRU later today. I'll be wearing a dark coat and trying to hide my face, mumbling something about how it's my brother's game, I'm just getting this for him. I swear.

..Dragonite? That's not even a particularly rare Pokemon. Thanks for giving us one that was in the original games, Toys 'R' Us.
szhlibrary's Avatar
szhlibrary at 11/08/2008 19:45
It's not supposed to be a rare Pokemon, its supposed to be a Dragonite for all the competitive Pokemon players, where Pokemon are restricted to lvl50, thus excluding Dragonite from any team as Dragonair evolves at lvl55 I think. That's why its at lvl 50, so they can once again use Dragonite.

@Dexter345

You do realize that Dragonair doesn't normally evolve into Dragonite until level 55. Also note that most tournaments are held with a level 50 cap. There's no automatic level reduction for non-wifi matches so this is a rather big deal.
