Quantcast

A man who could only be described as some sort of maniac has undertaken a quest to improve his PSP with all the features that he believes Sony should have implemented from the start, including, for reasons unknown to all, a touchscreen.

Jube808 has been tinkering with the PSP for a while, improving its batterly life and controls, with the touch screen being his latest addition. Provided is a video showing off a keyboard that could be operated with a stylus or finger. The creator's eventual hope is that the touchscreen support will be robust enough to provide a new level of control for homebrew games.

Do want? Do care? Either way, one has to appreciate the skill, if not the relevance.

While only a little useless, the addition of a touch screen would be a nice addition in the end. Him adding battery life and controls are what I am more interested in.

His skill and implementation of it is respected but why do we need a touchscreen on a PSP?? Hell I wonder why we need one on a DS ... I mean aside from the gimmick of course.

It brings together the best of both worlds: big screen and a touch surface. This can only be a good thing. Hopefully the next PSP will natively support this feature.

the touch screen is a handy idea if it can be made to work together with a browser and onscreen-keyboard :-)

What? Kirby Canvas Curse and Elite Beat Agents require only the touch screen.

I like playing Advance Wars and Days of Ruin with stylus better as well.

"Batterly life"? I heard the things are more delicate than the original DS.

I somewhat agree with Mistic, if the browser didn't tell me "out of memory" every time it tried to load something. I like the idea of a touch keyboard if they integrate other features from the PS3 as well... It would be useful in remote play when going through the message box, for sure.

I'd be way more interested in how he got more battery life out of it...

Short battery life is short.

error2k2: And it worked great with those Games. EBA & Canvas Curse were so much fun.

But I digress- I still don't think this would work well with the PSP, just due to its horizontal form factor.

@Heretic

I never said it was a bad system, I always found it funny how justifications for a system is based on "homebrew" and not actual available software. If the system was good then it wouldn't need defending. I'd get a PSP if there was a game on there I really wanted. Castlevania almost did it, now if they release that Phantasy Star game here in the US I"m all in.
