Runic Games' awesome RPG Torchlight is on sale for $4.99 today and if you don't buy it you are officially the world's biggest, stupidest, most rubbish moron. Originally $20.00, the game was smashed down to $9.99 as part of Steam's ludicrous holiday sale. Now it's been slashed in half again. This is crucial.
For those not in the know, Torchlight is an excellent Diablo-style RPG that should keep any dungeon-crawling, loot-starved adventurer occupied for many hours. At twenty bucks, the game was worth buying. Now it's five bucks, you literally have no excuse unless RPGs give you cancer. Even then, I'd say the chemo is worth it.
Seriously, if you even so much as vaguely like RPGs and don't purchase Torchlight today, you are a disgusting prick. Unless you already own it, of course. Which you should.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Oh well...at least my money went to a good company, I suppose I shouldn't be too frustrated.
This is the correct attitude. The game is easily worth twenty bucks. This deal is just ... well ... the work of freaks.
Yes.
I would actually get this if my PC were worthy to game on. Sadly, its not. But when I get my new PC soon, in due time, Torchlight will be on it.
Better to spend $4.99 to $9.99 on a game that's actually finished by people really from Blizzard rather than buy one from the people at Blizzard now or folks like Bioware or Bethesda, who aren't terribly keen on releasing complete games.
My only alternative is someone purchases it as a gift to me.
Oh wow, if Bethesda and Bioware release seemingly incomplete games compared to Torchlight, than this should be the absolute undisputed pinnacle of WRPG gaming which we should all bow down to and worship.
Or maybe you actually think those two companies release incomplete games because you're a fucking idiot.
Darn it, Steam!
On a sidenote, Trine is like eight bucks, and that's another fantastic game that deserves your money.
£3.79 well spent.
Five bucks? Yeah, I fucking think so.
God this irritates me. You still pirated it! there is no real apology for that, buying the game afterwards doesn't make it all better. The makers of torchlight won't say "oh, well you did buy it later, so I guess it's OK."
I honestly don't care if you pirated it, but don't try to make it out to be some kind of civil disobedience or excuse yourself because mac people get "shafted."
If you're going to do something at least have the balls to own up to what you're doing. If you feel that mac people are getting shafted and don't want to compromise your own - admittedly fake - morality, buy a PC, don't buy the game, or write a letter to the company telling them they're not getting your money. But, you sort of already did the latter anyway, didn't you?
Oh, and the best part, the real stinger, the real reason that the whole "we get shafted" Argument is complete bullshit is this: Unless you were using some FTP server or other straight download protocol, you were using P2P, probably BitTorrent. Which means you were also invariably uploading what you had downloaded to thousands of others directly or otherwise. So, you downloaded it for yourself, and contributed to wholesale distribution as well. Does that make it better? Do you think all those people who were in the same BT swarm as you really gave a fuck? Probably not.
I'll reiterate, I don't fault you for stealing, I fault you for trying to make it noble. I download music all the time, whatever. But I don't try to make it out to be some huge-ass noble crusade against the evil recording industry. It's not worth my time to go to a store and there are no alternatives I like so I just download music. When the day comes that there is a real alternative to iTunes and basically gives me straight MP3s I'll probably go that route; but until then I know what I'm doing, and I'm not going to call myself a person of hi moral fiber in the same sentence as my downloading habits.
I just hate how people on the internet equate piracy to being Robin Hood or some shit.
You can stop stealing music now.
I almost bought it for $10 the other day. Glad I waited!
This.
I'll pick up Torchlight if it carries out it's plan to become an MMO.
