Top Ten Dynasty Warriors games! photo

Dynasty Warriors is ten years old today! Tecmo Koei is celebrating the tenth anniversary of a game that has single-handedly sold systems in Japan, and single-handedly done very little everywhere else.

The Dynasty Warriors series is still one of my favorite franchises, despite the fact that everybody hates it, so I thought I'd celebrate a decade of hacking and slashing in the only way I know how -- a top ten list!

Celebrate the past ten years of medieval Chinese button mashing as we look at the top ten Dynasty Warriors games of all time!

10: Dynasty Warriors 2

In this game, you battle endless hordes of enemies by frantically bashing buttons in a unique battlefield scenario. Two huge armies go head-to-head, and you take on a single warrior to destroy them all with intense combos such as Square + Triangle or Square + Square + Triangle.

Featuring a deep leveling system, dozens of playable characters and sprawling battlefields full of hapless soldiers and flamboyant enemy generals, this is truly a fantastic and unique entry to the Dynasty Warriors series. It's got Lu Bu in it!

9: Dynasty Warriors 4

Featuring a deep leveling system, a few playable characters and small battlefields full of hapless soldiers and flamboyant enemy generals, this is truly a fantastic and unique entry to the Dynasty Warriors series. It's got Lu Bu in it!

Ummm... I don't think you can press square or triangle on the GBA.

Other than that, that was hilarious, nice article!

Hey Jim! You forgot the territories stuff in Empires, where you can choose between different sets of sprawling battlefields full of hapless soldiers and flamboyant enemy generals!

Since 3 is the only one that ever managed to truly pull me in for a loooooooooooooooooooooong time, I certainly agree with that choice...

Great memories of hours upon hours of wasting thousands of enemies with a mate of mine in our student-appartement :-)

Thank god 3 is at the number 1 spot. I would have raged SO hard if it weren't.

8 BODY GUARDS WITH CROSSBOWS. SHIT WAS GREAT.

Lui Bei's SWORD LENGTH WAS MAXED.

ATE THAT SHIT FOR BRUNCH.

What an unprofessional and outright ridiculous article; the Game Boy Advance doesn't have X and Y buttons! You're better than having to relegate yourself to a simple troll, Jimothy.

Don't worry Jim im with ya. But dynasty warriors 5 empires would have to be my #1. also no xtreme legends love or tactics or romance of the three kingdoms (1- what ever there at know) or kesson 2 or online. They all have Lu Bu too (kesson 2 doesn't, but it's got a transsexual!)

Enjoyed the article, even though I've never played the games (I'll probably try one now haha).

Unrelated question, what happened to that top 10 NES games article? Did it die or did I miss it?

Seriously i'm shocked at the attempt to even differentiate the various rehashes the series has been through, but to top it of you leave the only title worth mentioning (since they are pretty much the same game... again) Gundam Musou... where is dynasty warriors with robots from space... geez
