Too Human finished ... may God have mercy on us all photo

It appears as if Too Human's long and painful development has finally been put to rest and, presumably, Denis Dyack can go back on his meds again. That's right, Too Human is gold and ready to go.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the (not very enjoyable) Too Human demo has reached 900,000 downloads on Xbox Live. Helped in no small part, I'm sure, to Dyack's online bear baiting and perpetual tantrums during the game's development. Who needs to make a good game when controversy sells even better than quality? Not that I'm saying Too Human is a bad game, just the demo. I'll wait until I actually play Too Human in full before making my opinion known. And believe me, I will.

Destructoid will of course have a review up for your enjoyment, although I doubt Denis will come to Destructoid and do what one game developer did when we had our last review. No names mentioned.

We are all too stupid to comprehend the depth, scale and sheer brilliance that is Too Human. Dyack/Romero '08!

I hope the game comes with a detailed explanation of why I would only want to fire one gun at a time...

...and 2 other analog sticks for the camera and proper aiming.

Well, the loot was cool!

Combat, not so much. :(

I really wanted to like Too Human but that was when it was going to be a playstation one game. If you can remember when news from E3 was still about video games.

Furthermore, why does every new game have to be a part of a planned trilogy? Why can't we have one game that has a full three chapters worth of content.

randombullseye: Money. If you end each game ambiguously and then bring out another, a lot of people will buy the sequels just to complete the story/series even if it is mediocre.

I dont know what everyone is so against on Too Human. I did not like the camera at all, and I wish that I could use a face button to swing my weapon. But, you could fire two guns at once, all you had to do was pull both triggers. I thought the loot system was cool, I like having the secret missions like DMC, and I liked the look of the game a hell of a lot. I think the game is going to be good, not great by any means, but better than a lot of junk that comes out. I dont think I'll pay $60 for it but I would pay $40 or so for it.

I was all set to love the demo, and I did the first time I played it.

It was good, for a game that came out in 2004.

Don't worry, it's been in development for 10 years. It has to be good.

Then demo did nothing to make me want to spend any money on the full game. A rental, at best... as you can read in my full review of the demo, right here on Destructoid!

thanks for falling on the grenade for us Jim (actually playing TH) I gave the demo a shot, and, well, yeah...no. But that was before I knew, thanks to Critical_Damage, that "But, you could fire two guns at once, all you had to do was pull both triggers." Then again, I still have Halo 2 lying around, I can enjoy that amazing feature without spending more money...

I downloaded the demo yesterday, and it had to be the most clumsily designed game I've ever played.
The camera and the combat system was just bloody awful...

I actually enjoyed the demo. After getting a hang of the controls, which was way steeper than it should be, I had a lot of fun.

Then again, don't let me stop people from condemning a game before they've given it a chance. Everyone knows the age old saying, 'Judge a game by a few minutes at a convention'

Lol @ Anonuser.

I liked the demo enough to def wanna play it. I'm not sure I'll buy it at full retail price but the loot and upgrade system was addictive enough for me to waste a bunch of time which is more than I can say about a lot of other games I've played.

Plus, I really like the story and setting and wanna see what they managed to do with such a cool concept story-wise.

I liked everything (especially the loot system) about Too Human with the exception of two things. One is the laughable story. Two is the fact that it's a dual stick shooter. Unfortunately for SK, these are very, very important things for me.

Too Human = Waterworld.

This will do for Dennis Dyack, what the Virtual Boy did for Gunpey Yakoi.

I didn't follow all of the drama around this game. I gave the demo a chance. I hate the camera. I don't like the visuals. I don't like feeling like I'm not controlling the character...I used the stick for attacking and it just seemed to randomly pick an enemy to fight.

There are too many other games coming up that I really, really want for me to spend any money on this game. Hopefully, their next game will find my interest.

I played the demo through with the Beserker and Commando, I wanted to try defender but I couldnt get it which is no big deal. I had fun andp layed through it atleast 4 times. I might try and sell a game and buy it so I can pad the expense a little.

That demo was horrendous. The character animation was terrible, moved like a robot, the combat sucked, everything just felt hollow and shallow.

Now, normally I wouldn't care to be so dramatic about the quality of a demo, or any game for that matter, however given this games history and hype, I believe it is warranted. The Turok demo sucked too, but who cares? Nobody was saying it was going to blow all our balls off for 10 years.

The demo pretty much killed any remaining interest I had in the game. I hated the camera and controls, in addition the storyline seemed silly to me. I'll wait for Eternal Darkness 2. I'm looking forward to Dyack's next online hissyfit though.

It's not worth 60 bucks. When it hits 30 or less and I don't have anything else to play, I may pick it up.

The Norse myhthology is interesting, at the very least different from most other games.

Every person I've shown the demo to loved it. I'm the only one that's not going to buy it but I don't even like the genre to being with. I can't help but feel the game is being unfairly treated by the online community after we've been making fun of it for so long.

Honestly, I enjoyed the demo, and after a good half hour of playing, I was thwarting enemies with grace and ease, easily launching them into the air, comboing them, and even throwing in a DMC gun juggle every once in a while.

As for the targeting on the stick, it goes where you tilt the stick, as for the guns? Meh, it's ok, I don't plan to use them much, I'm in it for the hack n' slash.

Did you guys even try the other weapon types? Axes, hammers, staves, etc.?
