Too Human demo is out now photo

Whenever Major Nelson isn’t busy creating test posts with his Macintosh, or LOL’ing about it, he likes to update his blog with the daily downloads on Xbox Live. Today, Major Nelson is reporting that the Too Human demo is ready to be consumed by the masses. The demo is being brought out as a part of Microsoft’s “Bringing it Home” E3 spectacular that includes videos, pictures, themes and demos from the event.

The demo is a spectacular 1.09 GB download, so get in line early and be prepared to wait for a bit. In the meanwhile, I suggest you read Nick’s post about the four reasons why you should be for or against Too Human. The points that Nick brings up should serve as a prep for your own experience of the demo.

Tell us what you think. Does it stack up to Diablo? Is it the amazing experience that Silicon Knights wants it to be? Either way, go download it now. It’s free.

I'm downloading now. Although secretly I'm hoping the demo is terrible, just to see what bullshit excuse Denis Dyack comes up with next to defend his baby.

That was some of the worst shit I've ever played. You can now replace the "D" in Denis with a big fat "P".

It is def worth a Download, but the game doesn't feel like it should be released within the next few months. I think it needs a large amount of polish. It was very surprisingly fun though. I wouldn't mind picking it up for 30 bucks or so.

That title should be amended.

Too Human demo is out now XBL Gold members. Silver members not human enough.

Seriously? One of the most hyped game Microsoft has, and you have to have a gold membership to play the DEMO!

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGE!

Get ready to be disappointed then.

The game has some moments of fun to it, but it lacks a lot of polish. Many of the textures (I'm looking at you, grass..) terrible and the AI buddies look like first-gen 360 people with square fingers and muddy textures.

On top of that, you can't control the camera and the menus are a pain.

Despite all of that though, I had fun playing it. I definitely won't be picking it up day one, but maybe when it's dropped in price to $20 or $30 I'll pick it up.

Anyone who complains about the combat I don't think they understand it really isn't a hack and slasher adventure. There is a some depth to the combat but not a ton of depth what really give it that depth is by looking at the advanced melee section and using your spider(later) and all the combat techniques you can. It was fun and will buy the game for sure. there are things that they could have improved on but at the same time I have seen a lot, a lot, a lot worse.

@ DynamicSheep

Could not agree more. Plus, for a game that has a large single player component...a big part of the market(so I would think) lies in silver members.

meh.

I'll download and play it tonight. I'm not really looking for great graphics in this game, but fun gameplay. Can't really trust "random poster #689" on if it's fun or not, so will see for myself.

Downloaded and played it.

Wish they had a multiplayer demo for us gold members first then a week later roll out the single player demo for silver members. It was fun, kinda lame voice acting. I don't think I'll be playing this game for the SP. I did get mad a few times with not having a camera to control (like when blasted up against a wall). Combat system took a little getting used to. They should have made it so you lvl up faster so you have more time to loot and play around with the Equipment and such. As soon as I got some new items the demo was over.

Might pick this up when price drops. Multiplayer seems like a blast. Wish it was 4 player co-op. :(

some of you people are ridiculous, "i want to hate this game i hope it sucks"... jesus, this is why games like Smash Bros Melee manage to get 10 ratings even though it sucks balls... FANBOYISM is the *WORST* thing about gaming, it really ticks me off. i mean, why wouldn't you want it to be a GOOD game? i know i would, i don't mind good games coming out because then i get to add another good game to my collection & enjoy it. i'll give the demo a chance just like i give every other demo/game a chance and i'll judge it on it's own merits.

I found it entertaining, though a combat tutorial would have been useful. I going to get this from Gamefly, it seems to have a lot of re playability to it.

Downloaded it, thought it was pretty good, but it might get boring after a long time. I do love the plethora of items and diablo-esqueness of the game. I will probably pick it up, just wish they taught you how to use the combat system. I was wildly hitting the RS and it worked, but I died like twice.

my penis is soft with anticipation for this game, mainly because i dont use my 360 as much since the disk drive started making noises. plus i dont feel i should have to pay for(gold) or wait longer for(silver) demos.

After playing it, I came to the same conclusion a lot of others have: It was okay, definitely needs more polish. The melee combat was sometimes fun, then sometimes annoying when you slid half way across the room to attack an enemy instead of the one standing right next to you. I also can't help but find the "Generic Sci Fi action movie meets Norse Mythology" storyline a little silly. It was interesting, but I'll probably wait for a price drop first.

I went into this with an open mind, the only things I know about the game are that a) it's a fanboy hot button issue and b) well, that's about all I guess.

got it and played a few minutes - the graphics were mediocre, the combat was boring, and the non-stop NPC dialog was unbelievably inane. If MST3K spoofed videogames, and the 'bots were doing the dialog, then it'd be funny. I quit the demo and deleted it before finishing.

From what I'm seeing it seems to really be getting mixed reviews(mini-reviews?) from people commenting here. I plan to try it when I get home but I still have my hopes up. I've been waiting for this game for a long time.

It wasn't bad. My knee-jerk reaction was to dislike it, but I pushed on, and I'm glad I did. It's not bad, really. Sorta like what Hellgate: London should have been, if you ask me. The story and setting seem interesting, though I admit I would have rather just had a full combat demo so I could get a better feel for it.

To be honest, even though I didn't think it was bad gameplay-wise I have some gripes. First off, the game's been in development forever so I guess the graphics are more along the lines of a first-gen 360 title. I can live with that, but having a development cycle this long and not having a decent camera system is inexcusable. They've been dealing with that camera for years now? Really? Unbelievable.

That said, it doesn't seem like a title I would pick up on day 1, but it's certainly a b-list title I can see myself playing with a buddy.

Ehh. I'm playing it as we speak and I'm really not impressed... It sort of bothers me. I don't know what to say about it; it's really weird. I want to like it, but I'm finding that a bit hard.

I went into this expecting it to be great. I was unaware of any fanboy bullshit about this game until I came here, so all I had to pre-judge Too Human with was the excitement about it on G4, etc.

Like c0dek, I played it for a bit, then deleted it, finding myself bored to tears. Could this be true? This game that's supposed to be so awesome, that I'm supposed to be waiting for with great anticipation, THIS is what I'm expected to want?

The Asgardian/scifi mashup is not a new idea, though perhaps new to games. The cheesy voice acting doesn't bother me. The graphics are just plain dull, even though the art direction is not (not always, that is). The combat itself is god damned BORING! I've had more fun in a fucking CHURCH, where FUN ITSELF is prohibited!

Thinking that maybe the game was fine, and it was just be in a bad mood or something, I Googled it, and found this site. Seeing my feelings reflected in so many other posts, I just had to voice my agreement.

This game, if the demo is any indication, is a turd. A great big steamy pile of dogshit that's just begging for an Uwe Boll film adaptation. Such excrement is unacceptable these days. Now that we've all played stuff like Bioshock, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, and GTA4, we don't have to accept games like Iron Man, The Bourne Conspiracy, Halo 3, or Too Human anymore. I will not be buying it, probably ever. Well, maybe someday, when my local game store has its annual sidewalk sale, where they unload all their shit games nobody wants for $10-$15 apiece.

yea ive played the demo like 8 times and i dont see why everyone is complaining so much. theres lots of customizable options and the combat system is really simple and you just have to play it a couple times to get used to it. i do agree that the menus are really slow and a lot of the textures are pathetic but thats nothing to make a huge deal out of. i probably wont buy it right away simply because im already saving up for other things and there are other games like fable 2 that i would rather have first
