When the new issue of GamePro hits the stands on May 15th, it's guaranteed to contain more ProTips than you can shake a stick at (like, "Press start to pause the game," for example). It will also be the first time Activision's money printing machine, Tony Hawk's Proving Ground will be a revealed.

The follow-up to last year's Project 8, this PlayStaton 3/Xbox 360 game is set to revolutionize the series. You know, with things like updated "Nail The Trick" modes and revamped multiplayer. Wait a minute ... don't we say this crap every year?

The game will also bring skater classes and a full-featured video editor to the table. Yay. In GamePro's cover story, Tony Hawk himself also talks about the new project ("It's going to make me a lot of money again!") and chimes in on what he thinks about his game's competition, EA's Skate.

It seems like only yesterday that I was playing the PlayStation demo for the original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater like it was a full game, eagerly anticipating its release. How the mighty have fallen.

[Thanks, Wheeliedude!]

is the demo you speak of the pizza hut one? i remeber playing that for hours on end too, then i got the game and was less impressed. i didn't touch another tony hawk till underground, i've yet to touch another since (although i almost bought project 8 just for the skate deck target was giving with it, then pawn the game to eb)

THPS 2 still makes me smile wide when I play it, and that's a rarity. It's sad to see the downhill progression of the series.

project 8 was awful. it was the first thps game i played in like 4 years (i think the one before that was thug) and it was almost EXACTLY the same, save for more glitches and less refinement. all the fun wacky locales and uber amounts of customization were gone and in their place was a shitty "fully realized" city and a lame ass character editor (notice i didn't say creator). total crap. i played thps for craziness, not realism. i will never play another thps again.

Other than the great DS version of American Sk8land, I haven't really gotten into a Tony Hawk game since 3. And I doubt that'll change anytime soon. I am really interested to see how EA's Skate will turn out though.

THPS 4 was the best in series, real spots, tighter graphics than even pj8, looks sloppy now. fun multiplayer and create a park (pj8 what the hell?). and boned ollies from American Wasteland were the shit, bsts's ftw

THPS4 was the worst in the series, closely followed by THUG2

THPS3 was the best closely followed by THUG

I agree with Poetic Justic, THPS3 was the best. I didn't mind THPS4 though... it was still better than either THUG game.

THPS3 was definitely the best.
My only gripe was the lack of Bob Burnquist.
Wolverine almost made up for it, though.
