Tony Hawk Ride has a skateboard peripheral photo

More peripherals to fill up your house! In case you haven't heard, Tony Hawk Ride was revealed on GameTrailers TV, and it is going to use a new skateboard peripheral. It is coming to PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii, and it looks like we're going to see (or possibly ride) this game at E3 in a couple of weeks. [Correction: I'm not riding sh*t, as I even fall off the Wii Balance Board.]

Of course, none of this is really new to you, other than the picture of the actual peripheral. We told you that the new Tony Hawk game would be coming to E3 earlier, and we also mentioned the controller rumors. People have already seen this. It's the riding we're really looking forward to. And I'm sure that one of the other Destructoid editors will be happy to give their impressions at E3 for you. I'm going to watch. And laugh. And take pictures.

What do you think about the controller? Are you excited to jump over your dog and flip off the coffee table?

It's funny that 10 years ago you would stay 100 feet away from any peripheral and now they are the hottest shit. Tony hawk games have kinds killed the series for me in recent games but this might be wicked.

Looks cool, but the fact that you can't really ollie with it kills it for me. It would be a nice idea if it had a swivel function on the bottom, so that when you grinded on rails in-game you could turn the board so that it's horizontal, allowing you to control your balance between the two sides as if you were really on a rail.

oh what the fuck is that. say goodbye to the era of fun skateboarding games and hello to the innovation for the sake of doom and gloom. if skate never came out the tony hawk series would have never known the need to change. i guess that's what really drives innovation, not consumer trends but competition trends.

Surely if people wanted to simulate this shit they would buy a real skateboard.

I have a real skateboard, that doesn't mean I wouldn't want to try it.

I have serious doubts about how well it will work though.

I have a real Skateboard, and I use/ride/flip/grind/pop it.

I have Skate on the 360, and I play it.

I'm not into peripherals. I've never liked a game peripheral. Ever. Not even the NES lightgun. I'm just not into games with gimmicks.

So...who's actually gonna buy this? The price will be VERY key with this game. (Also, those in-game graphics in the trailer seemed very rough).

It doesn't look bad, it at least looks better than I thought it would have. But I have my doubts at how reliable playing it would be.

Also, even though the title is stupid, it's worth not having to see a number at the end of a title of a big franchise.

you all seem pretty interested in the game but all I can think right now is where the fuck I'm going to put the giant ass boxe that'll come with it on my shelves!! Goddamnit I have enough World Tour and Rock Band bundles as it is.....

Yeah, you can buy an entry level deck for less than $80. How close will this game be to that?

I love the Tony Hawk games, I own all of them except American Wasteland and I enjoyed the vast majority of them (all of them except the aformentioned AW and THUG2). That being said I'm scared of RIDE, this new controller can go either way. I kind of want the old tony hawk game play but at the same time I'm excited to see if this new controller will deliver. I will buy depending on what the reviews say. Also Skate sucks.

As an actual skateboarder this looks about as good as prison rape, but if it's anything like Guitar Hero/Rock Band it might end up helping the skateboard industry and that's a good thing.

What the fuck is up with that stupid button layout? How the hell are you supposed to use those buttons if you are obviously standing on the skateboard. Am I supposed to play sitting down on the cursed thing? Man, enough with the garbage. Can't we get another simple Tony Hawk game like 1-3? ...rather than the later 800 of them. 2 was my all time favorite, another will do just fine.

I wouldn't mind trying this out, but I'll be damned if I buy it. Still, it'd be fun to try to nose pivot on it and bust my ass. Does this thing even allow you to do pivots and such?

gah! Consider me impressed. I have always loved me some Top Skater, if this this is better, or similar, or whatever... I'm sold.

Basically I'm sold. I love me some Tony Hawk, even though I haven't played the last 3 or 4 games. I mean, who can keep up?

I think if you want to rethink the formula, this is one good way to start. I need more information!!!1

I've got the snowboard/skateboard peripheral for the original XBOX, that thing is only good for breaking your neck :-)

Its a LOT more fun watching people play it then actually playing it yourself :p

still that thing stands on 2 flimsy feet so balance is absolutely not there and this one seems to be resting on the ground... I'm curious :-) I'll prolly just get it for the crazyness of it all...

btw for anyone saying, "just get a real board", I've got 2, a longboard and a regular skateboard, but the weather here in Belgium generally sucks ass and since I live in a tiny backwater town, there's no such thing as smooth tarmac/concrete/pavements anywhere around to just have a rid :-( I gotta take my car to the next town to go skating :-(

@Daedhead...Mate, Skate was awesome. As a skater, I can tell you it is literally the closest ANY skateboard game has ever got replicating the feeling of boarding. Fair enough, it might have been a little too realistic compared to Tony hawk's 'triple-720-kickflip-handplant to 50-50-heelflip-fakie-backside-360-mctwist-grind' arcade style, but to say it sucks because it's not as ott as TH is a little ignorant. I, and every skater I know (who play games) will tell you that Skate put Tony Hawk's franchise to shame in the simulation aspect.
