Tony Hawk: Ride, Blur get GameStop pre-order content photo

Retailer GameStop has begun offering pre-order incentives for two of Activision's upcoming fall titles, Blur and Tony Hawk: Ride

Those who reserve Tony Hawk: Ride receive a GameStop exclusive "80s Quicksilver Level," which includes a Vertical Ramp challenge. The ramp sits on the runway of the Frankfurt Airport, between two 747s. Nice bonus, but we can't imagine it's as cool as this.

Pre-ordering Blur will net you a "Multiplayer Advantage Booster Kit," which is said to give you "unparalleled multiplayer benefits." Those include a Ford Bronco vehicle, a demolition derby-style last-man-standing "Super Destructo Multiplayer" mode, and players will receive double the fans for their first ten multiplayer races.

The retailers Web site is also offering us the first glimpse at the packaging for both titles, including the slim and funny-looking Tony Hawk: Ride skateboard bundle.

That Tony Hawk box actually looks pretty cool-looking. Hopefully the game won't suck.

a demolition derby-style last-man-standing "Super Destructo Multiplayer" mode

Seriously? An exclusive multiplayer mode?? That seems bastardly. I hope it's avaiable to others as DLC otherwise you are going to be stuck playing with a limited number of people.

Oh and, Fuck Tony Hawk's Ride.

A Ford Bronco will give you an advantage? You must start with a really awful car.

And I'm with KIDA, giving preorders a whole multiplayer mode is terrible. I could understand doing it like Gears 2 did the Flashback maps, where it comes free with a new purchase (not necessarily pre-ordered from a particular retailer), or downloadable for a fee separately.

That "Blur" box art is terrible, by the way.

If I'm not mistaken, the multiplayer modes in Blur are extremely customizable. It's likely that players will be able to customize the exact same mode with very little work.

@cbebop007:

It's a bit odd, definitely. But the game looks like that, which isn't a bad thing, actually.

I'll definitely be preordering Blur and I'm on the fence with Ride, this incentive kinda makes me wanna do it though.

Fair point Nick. I do think I remember hearing something like that at some point. It just seemed like a weird thing to give to pre-orderers.
