Tony Hawk reveals Tony Hawk Pro Skater coming to iPhone photo

I guess when you're Tony Hawk you can do whatever the hell you want when it comes to your games. That's why the skateboarding legend decided to reveal that one of the original Tony Hawk Pro Skater games is headed to the iPhone.

"In the PR world, this is considered 'going rogue,'" he tweeted, "but I'm too excited to contain it. This is real and dropping soon."

He then decided to post an image of the game, which looks like it might be Neversoft's 2000 sequel. While RIDE was a bit of a disappointment, the Pro Skater games are legendary. Despite the formula getting a bit stale, if you go back and play one today, you'll find it's just as fun as it was the first time you held and then released X before mashing the square and the d-pad.

No word on release date, price, or if it'll be impossible to play on the iPhone. But I'll probably be buying it regardless.

Great, another system for Tony to fail on.

What he doesn't mention is the game uses that awesome skateboard controller from Ride, because it's super responsive, and really makes you feel like you're a skater inside your tiny iPhone.

So many games are getting ported to the iPhone without considering what a pain in the ass it will be to play them on a touch screen. As much as I'd probably enjoy some portable Street Fighter IV or Tony Hawk, how hard would it be to pull off precision moves (whether combos or flip tricks) using just the screen?

Pro Skater 2 was a masterpiece. I hope they leave in Spider-Man, though.

I hope it's not the original THPS, where you just go downhill...that would blow.

I think I remember seeing this a while ago, but it was just rumored back then. I wonder how it controls?

I just came... to post how excited I was when I read this. I love THPS2 so much, it brought me endless hours of fun just building maps and playing them with friends.

I hope this version has a map maker along with multiplayer though I if only 1 is put in, I would prefer the former.

He owes his fans an apology for RIDE. And $120.
I've never played it, but I've also never seen so many unhappy people complain about a video game peripheral in my life(at my local used game store).

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater died after 3 (4 really wasn't that bad), but an iPhone version will really kill it.

Cool. But needs less iPhone and more PS1 Classics. Seriously, how has neither THPS1 nor THPS2 been added to PS1 Classics yet?

Probably developed right close to the RIDE deadline so that if RIDE did suck, they could bring this out to clean up the losses on the game.... ahh business... will you ever stop the rape?

OMG.

I remember I used to have tournaments on the DEMO of this game alone. The actual game was obviously better, but a DEMO!

Pro Skater 2 > ALL

ajsmart - a lot easier than you'd think. SF actually works really well. I use the assist button, but you still need to do the complex movements for upgraded moves, and I can pull them off pretty consistently. Its never going to be crazy hardcore like its console brethren, but its definitely worth playing.

I think tony hawk will also work, and also be a lot of fun. Looking forward to this.

Whether it's true or not doesn't matter to me anymore. I've been boycotting Activision since 2008. It's the only way to help stop their reign of terror.

I have had some great memories with the Tony Hawk series, starting with Pro Skater 3 and ending with Underground 2, but like with TyeTheCzar said, I'm not buying Activision until Kotick either corrects himself or resigns.

Scratch that, Kotick is never going to correct his ways.
