Tommy Does Taiwan: Video Games Live plays Taiwan International Music Festival photo

It's like Debbie Does Dallas ... if you took out the busty blonde and replaced it with a short, Italian games music mastermind. Okay, so it's not even close. But we'll get our pom-poms out and cheer for Tommy Tallarico, as he will be taking his popular games music concert Video Games Live overseas again for a pretty big gig.

VGL will be an opening act for the Taiwan International Music Festival, set to take place in the nifty-looking Chiang-Kai Shek Memorial (see gallery below) on February 20th. And they're doing it by request: over 3,000 fans had petitioned local concert promoters to bring Video Games Live to Taiwan in 2008.

For this special performance, the Taipei Symphony Orchestra will be rocking the games tunes for over 100,000 attendees.

Tallarico said:

What a great honor for us to be asked by the Taiwan government to be a part of such a revered and time honored event. I think this says a lot about how important video games and their music are becoming to cultures all over the world, and we feel very privileged to be a part of it.

Congrats to the VGL team. We love the show, and we think it's great that the whole world is also getting to enjoy it.

Always wanted to see this, but it cost so much, and I don't live in Seattle now either =/.

Having lived in Taiwan for 8 years, I say congrats to Tallarico and the city of Taipei. It really is a wonderful place with some of the best food in the world. I really do miss Taiwan. Sorry, guys, I tend to get gushy whenever D-toid mentions something about Taiwan ;__;

P.S. It's also a place where you can legally buy your NOT R4's or get your consoles UN-modded!

By Taiwan, do you mean the Republic of China, the true government of all China? Some day, Chiang-Kai Shek will be avenged...

VGL came to Beijing last year....at least I think it did unless it was canceled like most international concerts were in 08. Looks like a lot of fun, wish I'd gone when I had the chance

Hah! I used to live across the street from there. Funny that the only videogames you can buy in the host country are bootlegs and the only consoles you can buy are modded!
