Tom Morello to appear in Guitar Hero III? photo

With Slash already already announced as a "boss" character (sweet!), and Rock of Love's Bret Michaels already slated to appear sans strippers (bummer!), Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock looks like it's attempting to deliver a star-studded rock n' roll experience.

Well, it appears you can add Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello to the mix. In a video demonstration seen over at GamePro, Morello's name is casually dropped, the first mention of the guitarist in connection with Legends of Rock. Even more evidence is this above scan from an alleged German Activision brochure that also mentions Morello as a boss character in the game.

Tom Morello? A guitar hero? Perhaps. The guy has appeared on the cover of more guitar magazines than I can begin to count, and he is considered by many to be a modern rock legend. This has yet to be confirmed by Activision, Neversoft, or that girl I know who met Morello at a show in Chicago last fall, but we should be expecting an official announcement in the near future.

OK, so let's get this out of the way -- who's upset that it's not Dimebag Darrell?

Dimebag? I dont care how you look at it, I don't think theres any way you can compare Dimebag to Tom Morello--so I'm glad it wasn't Dimebag.

Although I'd rather it be Eddie Van Halen than Morello.... mmmm can you imagine trying to play Eruption on that fucking guitar??? jesus

The thing I hate about GH3 is how they put string when it is obviously fret we're supposed to be representing.

Also, when the guitar miss, you can still hear it but with everything muffled. It blows.

Sadly because the tracklist is awsome!

Otsegowupiwupi,

I agree with pretty much ALL of your guitarist recommendations, ESPECIALLY John Petrucci who has CONSISTENTLY been producing awesome record after awesome record for DECADES with Dream Theater. And if you can think of a better "boss song" than an epic 10 minute Dream Theater track I'd like to hear it!

As for Dimebag, it doesn't matter if he's dead. Unearth some awesome solo recording from a show and remaster it to up the quality and you're set. EVERYONE who know anything about Dimebag knows that he would jump at the chance to be a TRUE cowboy from hell and come back from the dead to be in this game!

Oh and one last thing: Tom Morelo the best guitarist of the last 20 years? That's laughable! When he first hit the scene, yes, he was inventive and experimental and a breath of fresh air but it didn't take long for his "fresh air" to get stale. All it took was a dozen songs with practically THE SAME RIFFS to show that he didn't have the staying power of some of the REAL best guitarists in the past 20 years. Wylde, Dimebag, Petrucci, Satriani, and Vai deserve the title a thousand times more.
