With Slash already already announced as a "boss" character (sweet!), and Rock of Love's Bret Michaels already slated to appear sans strippers (bummer!), Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock looks like it's attempting to deliver a star-studded rock n' roll experience.
Well, it appears you can add Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello to the mix. In a video demonstration seen over at GamePro, Morello's name is casually dropped, the first mention of the guitarist in connection with Legends of Rock. Even more evidence is this above scan from an alleged German Activision brochure that also mentions Morello as a boss character in the game.
Tom Morello? A guitar hero? Perhaps. The guy has appeared on the cover of more guitar magazines than I can begin to count, and he is considered by many to be a modern rock legend. This has yet to be confirmed by Activision, Neversoft, or that girl I know who met Morello at a show in Chicago last fall, but we should be expecting an official announcement in the near future.
OK, so let's get this out of the way -- who's upset that it's not Dimebag Darrell?

:(
Morello is awesome. I'm still not buying GH 3, though. Now that Rock Band has Cherub Rock, GH 3 is useless to me.
tasteless, heartless, and all around NOT PC - i love u destructoid
Anyway, I hope Morello does a new song to duel him with, because the one that Slash has is pretty awesome, and it'd be nice to have a hard Morello-style battle.

I'm not denying that the guy can play guitar, and I'm not denying that when Rage first hit the scene that the sounds he made weren't impressive, but let's call it like it is. He's not the only guy who can make interesting, squealing sounds with his guitar and a number of effects. Personally, I've always been way more impressed and blown over by Melt Banana's Agata, who shares a similar sound to Morello in a lot of ways, but uses his palette in a more interesting fashion.
So there. Ya' bastards. :D
Dimebag or fail.

and also... Mars Volta? WTF!?... FUCK Omar Rodriguez
Adam Jones is in there somewhere
Both games have a lot to offer. Rock Band is crazy with instruments, and GH3 is has a great setlist. I can honestly say my wallet will cry. That never happens, because I have a Power Rangers wallet, and Power Rangers are tough.
Predictably, Mxy pre-empted me. Bastard.
I won't be happy until Yngwie Malmsteen, a true legend of rock, is in one of these games. He'll be impossible to beat, but still...
He would be impossible to beat though, if you started to gain the upper hand he would start screaming the 'unleashing the fjucking fjury!' and storm off the stage.
Hmmm Brian may would be an ultimate boss, he could attack you with his curly hair and knowledge of the stars!!
The game's called Guitar Hero, so give me a guitar hero, like Jeff Beck or Kerry King or someone who can actually do something with a guitar other than make weird scrapy noises.
This is awesome, I'm really looking forward to facing off against Tom.
