TMNT: Smash Up trailers has turtle, human, and robot power photo

I won’t lie and say I’m a huge fan of Nintendo’s Smash Bros., but Ubisoft’s attempt to mash the popular series together with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has my attention. See, I was somewhat of a Ninja Turtles fiend as a child, collecting everything from the Playmate’s toys to the original Mirage Studios comic books.

While Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Smash Up is based on some kind of weird aesthetic and universe I’m not entirely familiar with, I’m still holding out some hope. In this latest trailer for the game, playable characters are revealed for the fighter: Raphael, Casey Jones, Foot Ninja, and… Utrominator.

Those first three, I’m with ya’, Ubisoft. But Utrominator? I have no idea who or what that thing is. It does some horrible thing about a minute into the trailer, something that almost makes it look like Krang. But it’s not Krang, according to the Internet, and that upsets me. It upsets me quite a bit.

Nick, I'm in total agreement with you about all of this. The turtles are my favorite 80's universe. Putting them into the Smash Bro's system sounds like a lot of fun. Question though, you didn't mention the system it's coming out for.

@BigPopaGamer:

Wii. It's in the trailer. :D Should have mentioned it in my story, though.

Yeah, they have very easily just put Krang's bald, sunglasses wearing suit into this instead of Ultrominator and I would have been much happier.

Turtles are cool and all, but I already have Smash ...

Hopefully this throws in some stuff to make me choose it over Brawl.

That trailer was surprisingly good. I was already excited for this game but now I can't wait. I might even go play through the TMNT game for 360 one more time.

@Nick Chester

Apparently, according to the wiki you linked, "Krang is a character loosely based on the Utrom race from the original comic". Also, Krang makes an appearance as an Utrom in one of the episodes, here's the dialogue.

Krang makes a cameo appearance in the 2003 series episode, Secret Origins, Part 3, only this time as a Utrom which he was originally inspired by. His cameo consist of a one scene.
Utrom 1: "I hate walking on my tentacles."
Utrom 2: "Oh Shut up Krang."

So who really knows what's going on lol.

in the new turtle series they even have this thing called Utrom Shredder, it's the point were TMNT got to silly even for my taste.

I actually thought that look surprisingly bad.

The animation was pretty terrible, the fighting was slow, and the character moves and effects were underwhelming at best.

I WAS disappointed that I might not be able to get this game (it's a Wii exclusive right?) but after seeing the trailer I really couldn't care less.

I was like, "what the heck is up with these visuals?" Then I saw that it was for Wii only.

-_-

I know the Wii has more horse power than that.

Why would they choose to make a sub-par game like this? Generic designs, terrible animation; looks like wii developers are just phoning it in for a quick buck. A cool idea, just sad.

Super Smash is also Wii exclusive, yet it doesn't look half as bad as this game does. I'm with alex on this one, they can definitely do more with the Wii's potential. Wow.

I think I actually got more enjoyment from the IE8 adverts book ending the trailer than the trailer itself: "I hate you Mary".
