Disgaea DS isn't the only new Disgaea game coming out this year. Disgaea 3 Absence of Justice is coming out for the PlayStation 3 this August. Even though the game is coming out on the powerful PlayStation 3, Disgaea 3 is going to maintain the simple art style the game has been known for.

In Disgaea 3, Mao, the son of the Overlord, discovers the truth about the Netherworld: The hero always defeats the Overlord. With this knowledge, Mao steals the power of a hero so he can defeat his father. Almaz, who Mao steals the hero powers from, has to find a way to get his hero powers back from Mao before he permanently becomes a demon.

The game will have new features such as a Geo Block that turns the battlefield into 3D for new ways to attack enemies. There will be over 270 customizable characters and each character has 40 or more randomly generated battle stages associated with them. This is basically 10800 new stages on top of the game itself. Disgaea 3 will also have downloadable content, which will include new characters and stages.

Expect Disgaea 3 Absence of Justice to come out August 26th for the PlayStation 3. Check out the trailer above and the gallery below for a bunch of fresh new screens. Oh, and clear out your calendar for the next year or two, as it sounds like you're going to lose your social life to this game.

Santa Ana, CA -- NIS America announced today that Disgaea 3 is heading for the PlayStation 3 Computer Entertainment System this summer. Much loved by hardcore gamers around the world, Disgaea 3 makes a bold new step towards the next generation console with a whole new cast, story, and game system.

About Disgaea 3
Disgaea 3 is a sequel to Disgaea, a hardcore, turn-based, strategy RPG popular on the PlayStation 2 and PlaStation Portable. In Disgaea, character units have a limit to their movement and attack ranges, based on level and weapons equipped. There are other special game factors that let you take advantage of the 3D battle map, many of which are unique to Disgaea.
One of the many new features to Disgaea 3 is the addition of a Geo Block, which creates a 3 dimensional battle instead of the traditional 2D. Much of Disgaea 3 is yet to be unveiled, but rest assured, plenty s due to arrive in the coming months.

Key Features
Geo Block - A cube-shaped terrain-altering object. Players can use it to access and attack enemies where normally they cannot reach.
Geo Panel - A group of stat-altering elemental properties that are place upon certain parts of the battlefield. When there are one or more colored panels on the battle grid, it means an element can affect that area. The effect can boost or reduce your unit's stats.
Item World - A special randomly-generated battle stage within each and every item you find. By defeating these special battle stages, you are able to strengthen your items.

Their trailers are alway so epic, the Japanese trailer even had the amazing voice of Norio Wakamoto as the announcer. Those game are even worst than MMOs to steal your life, since you only play alone. I want it.

With all those options this game would be a step in the right direction for future strategy rpgs if it had online multiplayer. That would be awesome.

They really sold me on the ability to change seats with classmates!

I love the Disgaea series and although it look nice, I expected it to look a bit better being on the PS3 and all.

Oh yes, this is definitely a high-def game. Look at all the jaggy sprites... see them? They're intentional. They actually drew the sprites like that.

Just like what they did with Darwinia: give it a retro feel. This is in no way a lame attempt to get tactical JRPG players to buy a console they don't want or need :|
