Tiny prince is tiny: New Prince of Persia: The Fallen King (DS) screens photo

I'm not going to pretend like the look of Ubisoft's DS title, Prince of Persia: The Fallen King, is growing on me. Because it's not; I'm not entirely OK with the cute, cartoony look of the game.

With that said, word on the street from those who have seen the game in action is that the title is actually pretty solid. I'm willing to give Ubisoft the benefit of the doubt; at least they didn't try to cram a fully-3D port of their next-gen title on to Nintendo's handheld.

The game follows a different, but related, story than the next-gen Prince of Persia title. The Prince will fight alongside an ally, but not the mysterious woman, Elika, found in the next-gen title. Instead, players will control both the Prince and a magic-wielding character called The Magus.

Sounds interesting enough, but I have to say: I'm still shaking off the Prince of Persia card battle game Ubisoft released for the DS a few years back.

I was disappointed with the Sands of Time GBA title. They released a 2D PoP game, couldn't they just make it like the old one with new stuff, rather than go for the "Aladdin on Genesis" route?

Looks like a new variation of the original Prince of Persia gameplay. Could it be fun?

I think I'm the only person who likes the PoPDS art style. It's cute! It reminds me of Tomba on PS1, if he was Persian rather than caveman. If anything, the art style gives it a chance to sell in Japan?

@Spooky Electric: That makes two of us then that enjoy the art direction here :)

I hope this game is a bit more light-hearted compared to the console versions.
