TimeGate's Section 8 coming to PSN this Spring photo

Following recent hints, TimeGate has confirmed that its sci-fi first-person shooter Section 8 will be coming to PlayStation 3 this Spring.

Interesting, the game (which was released to retail for Xbox 360 last year) will be coming as a download by way of the PlayStation Network download. The game will feature a single-player campaign along with 11 multiplayer maps, there of which were only available via DLC for the Xbox 360.

The PS3 version of Section 8 will also be the first game to support TimeGate's TGNServer tech, which will allow players to host 32-player games from their PC.

The press release makes it sounds like Section 8 for the PS3 will be available as a download only, but we're checking in with TimeGate just to make sure. Who wants to leave the house anyhow?

[Update: TimeGate has confirmed that Section 8 will be PSN download only.]

Having the PC as the server sounds really cool.

Might have to check this out.

The environments and character models look very similar to Global Agency, except some maps are more outdoor-y. I know it shouldn't come as a surprise that futuristic shooters are graphically similar, but I still had to point it out.

I hope no one is subjected to this game.

With all the good multiplayer centric games coming out, you'd be best to avoid this.

Like I said, free-falling from space is the only cool thing about this game. That and free-falling from space onto some poor sucker's face to score a hard-to-get kill.

Also, Justin Roberts is my hero.

It's funny how this game allows for custom dedicated servers running on a PC while Modern Warfare 2 ON PC doesn't. It's a nice move that I hope more companies follow where appropriate.

What RenagadePanda and Rammstein said. This game sucks, and Justin Roberts is the fucking man.

I did beta testing for this game before its release, the multiplayer isnt bad but also not the greatest.

the ideas and concepts of the game is remarkable at times but also very whats the word repetitive... i know like all games but still its missing something that I cant put a finger on.

I am just hoping with the release to the PS3 that problems like we have in MW2 dont also arise in the same way.

Cause honestly lag switch users should be SHOT and CASTRATED then TAGGED.

@x1251

I implore you, listen to the "Xbots" this time:

Avoid this game. It ISN'T fun. If it was, you'd have been hearing about it for the last six months from all of us "fanboys" on the other side of the aisle...

to add this is nothing like Halo.

it has elements of lets say a futuristic Modern Warfare and Battlefield 2142 i guess.

You gain experience and levels, you have the ability to call down turrets, ammo replenishin boxes etc etc, they have some vehicles but very sluggish and slow.

One thing I did like was the ability to drop from space to almost anywhere on the map.

U can customize what u want you points into whether better shielding or better armor, or making the enemy take longer to lock onto you...

U can customize the weapon loadouts to a degree etc etc.

IT has alot of potential but still is missing something...

sorry i tend to trail off...

This could have been an amazing PC game to take back the Tribes legacy but they blew it by making it an Xbox game first and doing a simple port. The Xbox has too much competition from Halo and the like, the PC could have been wide open.

This is why a lot of times aiming at a smaller market with a more focused product can be more beneficial than aiming for the world.

Man, this game is really trying hard to earn a dedicated audience. It's rather unfortunate it's a mediocre game at best. No matter how hard anyone tries to enjoy and support it, it just falls upon deaf ears.
