This came out in Britain on Friday, it has a solid 78 on metacritic. Went out to buy it on the day but no shops were actually stocking it. Just like Xenoblade it's another DERP launch of a great game on a nintendo system; HERP DERP DERP...
this is why i dont like handheld games. i would so buy this on psn. i dont care if the grfx are a little on the weak side. im just tired of the smaller games only getting handheld releases because its not super hardcore uber grfx downloadable. i always thought with the download services smaller games like this would be more plentiful. but instead they just stick them on the handhelds.
The game is pretty sweet, but the level design drags it down. There are too many secret passages to nowhere. The maps shift suddenly at certain points and when you return to it, all the map markers (flares) disappear leaving you to find all the points of interest all over again.
I would also but this on PSN/XBLA. Looks great, like the Dark Void 2D game was.
Also, this new media player works fantastically on my phone! The framerate is perfectly smooth, unlike springboard.

@Matt Edwards, the release of bit.trip complete and saga were completely derpped over here. No stores had it and gamestop didn't allow preorders for it. Ordered complete on amazon after being frustrated. A week later, went to go look for saga, only one store had it, a gamestop that was more than half hour away. Sooo, had to Amazon that game too.
Nintendo life just did a review that gave me such a bigger boner.

I'm really wanting to get this, but I need to be sure it's more or less up to the quality of a Metroid or Castlevania DS title. I just can't afford everything I want between now and December, so I'm waiting on some reviews.
I've been thinking about this every god damn day for the last month solid. It's time for a quality Aliens game. I just downloaded and (painstakingly) played the new(er) AvP for PC and what a load of fuck that turned out to be. I think I paid 5 dollars for it and the campaign thus far feels like a shooter circa 1998.
Got it reserved and can't wait for it to come in. It has been WWWAAAYYYY too long since a proper Castlevania or Metroid title has come out on the DS. WTF???

I found it a little disappointing. I guess its unfair to compare it to great 2D series like Metroid and Castlevania. It's ok, not really the great Alien game I had hoped for.
@PhilK3nS3bb3n: Thanks. It sounds good, and a definite purchase. But it's funny that they compare it Dawn of Sorrow, because that's exactly what I was comparing it to in my mind. I think I'll wait until I can afford it, but I'll still get this at some point.
Hoping to god this is a sweet game. I haven't been using my 3DS for anything other than streetpasses and remakes. I need something good, even if it is a DS game.
@Shinta: Word. I'm a huge Alien/Aliens nerd and its my bday. This and Dark Souls with a side of Batman. Great bday (gaming wise at least).
preordered on amazon. i'm with you jim, if they can stick the landing, infestation could be my favorite game of the year. here's hoping.
It's merely alright. It has one crippling flaw and that's the "knock-back" you get when hit, where your marine takes ages to get back up and often gets hit again immediately.
It's also short, nowhere near as complex as the Metroidvania style suggests, and has the odd moment where Aliens and humans are fighting side by side against you. Sigh. Also, there's not enough save locations. It'll gladly not give you chance to save before or after a boss fight for example.
