Time Crisis 4 confirmed for PS3, Guncon 3 revealed photo

Is there anyone here who finds that light gun rail shooter games can hold their attention for more than a half an hour? This one's for you. The latest issue of Famitsu has confirmed that Time Crisis 4 will be indeed coming to the PlayStation 3.

The game will offer at least two modes, continuing in the Time Crisis tradition of offering hours of varied and action-packed gameplay. "AC" mode appears to be a direct port of the title that was released in the arcades last year and "Mission Mode," in which players take control of William Rush, a captain in the U.S. Joint Intelligence Division. Rush also happens to be one of the least memorable characters in any videogame ever, right next to Crissy, the fast running, high jumping camp counselor from the NES game, Friday the 13th.

The game will ship alongside the Guncon 3, a peripheral which will give the PlayStation 3's dust-gathering feature a run for its money. The gun appears to feature an analog stick for all of that analog-ing you're going to be doing while shooting generic looking foot soldiers.

Yay?

I know someone who's a massive Time Crisis fan, and we've discussed a home release of TC4 at great length for a quite long time. He can't wait for it.

He will however, not be getting a PS3 to play it. Of that I can guarantee.

" a peripheral which will give the PlayStation 3's dust-gathering feature a run for its money."

Fanboy. Everyone knows nothing gathers dust like a 64.

Yet.

Wow man, this article almost defines sarcasm. I think this is a great bit of news, though I would have liked to see a new Point Blank even more. Am I the only one out there who like light-gun games?

You're not alone, jamisu. I still hope that the Wii will resurrect all the light-gun franchises. Point Blank, House od the dead, Time Crisis, hell a new Beast Busters game would be nice too.

I actually bought Time Crisis and Point Blank for PS1 (Jamisu, I totally second the new Point Blank idea). What can I say, I like shooting things. I have to admit, I'd be tempted to buy this even considering its highly questionable bang for the buck.

Considering the PS3's limited user base, I'm wondering just how profitable niche accessories could be. And that brings my armchair message board market analysis to a close. Thank you.

Yea, gamers don't buy useless accessories.

That'll be me then. After playing TC4 on the new boards at the arcades, this game need not be released on PS3. PS2 would do, but you do have to drive new dust collecting console sales records I guess. That little "nunchuck" ripoff is stupid and will change the gameplay element of this title.

Shooting on multiple sides, I assume, will use the "nunchuck" to navigate from each side. This is a silly idea, as one can just point to a part of the screen to turn around.

I fucking love lightgun games and have done since I first tried TC1 in the arcades and then went mental of the PSOne release. TC holds my attention all the time, especially the rescue missions and extra things added for consoles.

Thanks for making my cry Namco, you bunch of Sony loving gayboys.

Why no mention of the orange gun for europe? The black/blue gun for Japan? Or the fact that this game will be playable on HDTV's? What about the fact the gun now works as a wannabe wiimote? The sensors at either side of your TV, a la powerglove?

Sorry to moan, but Nick, if you're going to cover news - then you really should tell us all. Regardless of your obvious dislike of the genre...

nice, the ananlogue stick means ps3 owners may soon be enjoying quality FPS like Red Steel.

if you could map the light gun pointer to the right analogue stick, it might be fun to try and play a few fps with that thing.

Galaga - Nah, I've been playing FPS like that for, oh, ten years. I'd prefer something different.

Those of you that want lightgun games for the Wii, make sure you buy Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicals. Vote for the genres you like by buying games. If Capcom/Nintendo sees that people still buy railshooters, they'll continue to make them.
