Tim Gunn gets a bit down on Mario's outfit photo

Let's get the obvious out of the way here: if you don't know who Tim Gunn is, he's the fashion guy from Project Runway (that's really doing a disservice to his many credits, but it'll do). As such he knows a lot about fashion. For some reason he was hanging out with the guys from MTV Multiplayer, and during his time there he was asked to critique Mario's overalls and work boots. You'll have to head over there as Multiplayer has disabled embedding on the video.

Ever the gentleman, Gunn shies away from flat-out blasting Mario's wardrobe choices, and decides to compliment them as functional. This of course assumes the fact that Mario does some actual plumbing, which I think it's pretty safe to say he does not. I think we should give Mario a break here, especially since his outfit was designed more around the fact that Miyamoto needed a way to distinguish his body parts than a need to dress the plumber fashionably. One does have to wonder where Princess Peach would fall on Gunn's fashion scale, considering the fact that that pink dress is neither functional or fashionable.

I didn't know who this guy was up until now, but I like him, I care about how I look, so when people think I dress nice they assume I'm some pretentious douchebag(I might be, eh) and that generally is the case with those into fashion. Not me cause I don't take it that seriously. But this guy seems be pretty okay, but that's only from some 45 second clip, so who knows.

According to my cassette + book thingie here, they do (now in the Mushroom Kingdom) and always did (in Brooklyn where they came from, if I remember correctly) plumbing for a living.

I love Tim Gunn. I secretly wish he was my friend so that he can help me pick out the most fashionable duds for me everyday.

I like Mario's outfit. It's timeless, like Mickey Mouse's pants, or Donald's sailor uniform.

It's really strange to see such a straight-faced review of Mario's clothes.
