Well this is a pleasant surprise: A developer has actually made a Wii game look presentable to a next-gen crowd. Yes, there are still noticeable jaggies in Tiger Woods for the Wii, but still, the animations and everything else look rather fluid. One obvious missing element, however, is of course the presence of crowds. Clearly the Wii's GameCube-like processor can't handle that part -- or maybe this is just an early build, who knows. I'll just pray to the Wii Gods that this one controls a million times better than Wii Golf.
Oh, and for the love of everything in this world, make it playable online, EA.
hMM...If they can make the controls perfect and good and perfect then this might be good and or perfect...........................Also.Gregor.your.soul.woudldn't.get.the.devil.a.bag.of.chips.at.the.food.court
I wonder what kind of accuracy they could get if the sensor bar could be reconfigured to lay on the floor pointing up, so you swing over it. I think the putting could register alot more accuratly and less wanky then in wii golf. Any thoughts?
I don't understand why everyone expects every Wii game to look like garbage. Theoretically it's twice as powerful as the GCN, and I don't know about you guys, but in my opinion the Cube put out some fantastic graphic last gen. RE4, Metroid Prime, anyone?
as long as the make the controls alright ala wii golf. i hated that super swing golf had you pushing buttons during the swing. wii golf- you press the A button and swing. if the tiger woods game is like that ill be happy. i tend to like the tiger woods games.
also, since i see people complaining, i never had any trouble w/ the wii golf. only thing i have problems w/ it controlling where my ball goes in tennis. but im getting the hang of it.
I was going to say that the crowd was probably just going to come later and this is still an early build, but I didn't realize this game comes out in March. I think the game looks good what it has already, but nowhere near release quality. They got a lot of work to do to hit their March release date, should be a fun next month or two for the Tiger Woods team.
I'm kinda weirded out by the graphics. I mean the movements were fluid, but I felt like I was watching one of those old SEGA hologram game things where they had preset animated video loops of things happening and those were the same scripted movements no matter what you did, kinda thing.
Basically, it would've worked better for me if the enviroment had matched up better with Tiger. I'm seeing a GC/PS2 quality golf course with a decently animated Tiger. They need to find a better middle ground before I'd bite. But also, SSGolf's whole thing is probably more my scene anyway since I liked HSGolf on the PSP.
Game looks a lot better than anything I expected to come out. Too bad I'm boycotting EA... I would like to play a good golf game for the Wii but even this won't make me buy a game from the evil EA
I remember reading somewhere (gamepro or 1up?) that in their hands-on with the new Metroid they said it looked better than Halo 2. Right now I'm resting all my hopes of the Wii's capabilities to deliver graphically on that statement.
This game doesn't look all that much different to me than the golf game that came out when the 360 first came out.
That golf course looks like its straight outta Nevada
I'm looking forward to seeing what SquareEnix can do with the Wii. Then we'll know just how good the graphics can get.
As far as golf goes, I'm not likely to get this, but I actually liked Wii Sports Golf. The putting is definitely wonky, but the rest of it worked great, I thought.
Pretty nice. I always knew the Wii could do much better than Red Steel and Wii Sports in the graphics department.
Graphics are as much about development as they are about hardware. Have a machiene that can handle a lot of info about the image is one thing, but choosing what detail to include as to make it look good is another. And Nintendo rocks in the software department.
Not only missing crowds - missing trees. Hope that is just because of the course or the game will look rather silly. It was a bit bizarre to see Tiger standing in practically a desert with cheering invisible crowds. Perhaps the control scheme will make up for it.
Is it better than Pangya golf? I doubt it, make Pangya online and you have your killer golf game. Who cares about playing as some guy that exists in real live. Looks boring as hell. I want my caddy that looks half bag half cat and start flying through the air once my ball takes off.
Sorry guys, bad news. Just in from Gamespot: "While there is no online multiplayer, you can get a group of friends together for some four-player multiplayer."
That Brawl has online was announced the same day as the game itself. Believe that Wii Pokemon game will be the first game with an online mode. Personally I don't really care to much for online, BO3 and the PC version of Pangya are the only two games I've spend some decent time with online. But it's still a nice extra feature to have.
This will be my first Tiger Woods since Tiger Woods 99. I'll bet no changes have been made besides the control scheme (obviously).
Also, on Wii Sports golf, I have pretty much mastered this, and I can say the putting is probably a little wonky. I can hit one, two, or three bars of power pretty easily, but anything between 0 and 1 and 3 and 4 is difficult to attain. However, maybe this is fair because those are the amounts of power (just a little bit and just enough to not be too much) that are difficult to attain in real golf. Still frustrating though.

And yah, I too hope the controls are better than the wonky Wii Sports golf controls. Particularly putting.

Wii Golf is frustratingly addictive. I am SO ready for a complete Wii golf game.

...
and Sony doesn't.

I heard Brawl will have it though, so I'm not dissapointed in Wii's online YET.
I know, for some odd reason I keep calling it Pangya, like that PC game Albatross18 keep calling that Pangya too.
