Is it sad that Tiger Woods has to win the U.S. Open in order to not suck or is it just a testament to how good he is? Well, as amazing as he is at real golf, he’s not so good at virtual golf. The video below demonstrates Tiger barely beating out Jimmy Fallon at Tiger Woods 10 on Wii, and this is after he lost to Fallon earlier in the day in Time Square.
I’ve not played Tiger Woods 10, but it’s clear from the video that despite Tiger’s far superior golf form you can get just as good a swing from Fallon’s one-handed style. Can anyone tell if they’re using Wii MotionPlus on those controllers? I’m not sure, because from what I’ve played with the Wii MotionPlus I would think that Tiger’s form would allow him to hit better.
What I really can’t wait for is Tiger sucking at golf on Natal.
The video is from Hulu so those not in the US should move here to watch it.

I would say that having a goler as talented as Tiger play the game and not be completely awesome is a good illustration of how limited motion control schemes still are. Not exactly a superb illustration of how well your game simulates real golf!
Im almost certain Motion Plus was not used explaining why he didn't win by a long shot. Although even with motion it still isnt that much like real golf.
MotionPlus was definitely used. The prompt to hold the wiimote down and press B only comes up with MotionPlus. Also the wiimotes are longer.
Regarding the quality of motion control matched against Tiger's golf skill, I'm sure the game normalizes alot to keep the game basically fun. It does evoke my own question of what the difference is between normal and advanced control scheme...
At any rate, the Motion Plus is in fact amazing. I can't attest to if its much like real golf, but the end result is a game that reads more of your physicality than just pressing a button or doing a lazy swing.
Of course MotionPlus doesn't recreate golf down to the exact letter but it comes close enough. If you actually needed skill to play well, that would quite limiting, no? Gotta give up SOME slack.
Wii MotionPlus may not recreate the golf experience, but it sure does recreate the frisbee golf experience. So. Freaking. Difficult. God damn you Tigers Wood 10.

Wait, this game has Disc Golf? Now I'm even more tempted to buy it... Been hoping for a good Disc Golf game.
Here's him beating a guy from ESPN in '07.
