Chapel Hill, North Carolina-based developer Merscom has announced that it will be publishing the "first, and only" Sudoku title for Xbox LIVE Arcade.

According to Merscom CEO, Kirk Owen, Buku Sudoku takes the popular game to "a new level." With HD graphics that make the Sudoku grid easy to read (their words, not mine), and an innovative new triggers and thumbsticks control method, Buko Sudoku truly will be the best Sudoku game on Xbox LIVE Arcade. It's going to be so good, in fact, that you're going to want to play it with a friend or lover -- the game features multiplayer Sudoku, for an experience "never before witnessed in a Sudoku" game

Up until now, the PlayStation 3 was the dominant console among Sudoku fanatics, with the excellent PlayStation Network title, Go! Sudoku. This Spring we'll see if Merscom can tip the scales of power with Buku Sodoku. The console wars have begun.

Every week I dream of Street Fighter. Every week I am filled with disappointment and a growing hate for each new shooter that comes out in it's place.

@grrza: I've only played the PS3 Go! Sudoku but it's actually not so suck. The grid changes colors when you get the thing "right" and has sound effects too. Plus it's like $2 or something.

God, isn't this whole Sudoku fad over yet? It's been 3 friggin' years!

Is this that 'Satan's Sudoku' they were talking about?

Yeah, Go! Sudoku is actually not that bad. I'm not against this game coming out, provided the price point is right.

I always found that the sudoku included in Brain Age is better than any other stand alone sudoku game.

This will probably be like Go! Sudoku.

Only more expensive and not nearly as good. You can tell from their touting of multiplayer Sudoku as a 'never before seen sudoku experience' that the development team have no idea Go Sudoku even exists.

FAIL.

Bleep wins.

I actually really like sudoku. But I really feel it's best enjoyed on the lightrail/bus, in an airport, or on the crapper.

Ugh. I like sudoku, but playing it with anything other than a pen and paper is annoying.
