[Update: Replaced the YouTube videos with better quailty GameTrailers videos and added a third commercial after the jump. -- CTZ

Here are two brand new commercials for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Not much new is shown off that we haven't seen already seen thanks to the DOJO updates. The first commercial mostly focuses on Mario, Pickachu, Kirby and Link. The second commercial (after the jump) shows off random battles between various characters including Ice Climbers and Squirtle who haven't been shown off in motion yet.

Brawl is going to be one of the biggest games of 2008 and there's no arguing that. I'm going to go MIA for 24 hours straight just playing the game when it comes out in February. Also, this was a nice surprise especially since the DOJO has been on hiatus this past week. Expect DOJO updates to resume Monday.

I hope the online works well. That was the delay, right? Right? Brushing up that online component, RIGHT? Making sure it's ALL GOING TO WORK, RIGHT?

The American commercials are going to be bad ass! Two Japanese guys enter somebody's house and one of them says "We would like to play." Then it shows a brief game play video that's constantly interrupted by cutting to people smiling like idiots while playing. Then the 2 guys drive away and the Wii logo comes up.

I remember back in the days when videogame commercials would show very little content of the games they were trying to sell, they would either show people playing the game or show real people dressed into game characters because the graphics sucked. I don't say I didn't like it smash bros was definitely part of the better ones.

giant mascots hitting each other is always nice. even just hitting.

I hope those frame rate issues (in the second video) are the video quality and not actual gameplay :X I'm still thinking like I was for the other two smash bros. games- meh. I'll play them at parties, but give me a KOF or SF game any day of the week.

@ Bowshi - Yup, it's like the last two smash bros. games. Still totally different than every other fighter out there, but yeah, it's similar to rest of the smash bros titles, yes.

I hope the metroid is an assist trophy.

@Reaprar
I think the online element and the new game modes makes up for that . also the fact that we know how every characters move is probably due to the smash dojo providing information all the times.

and when you think about it there's not alot of fighting games that are not a near-identical rehash rehash of the previous Opus*cough*streetfightertekensoulcalibur*cough*. And I think smash bros melee changed alot of thing over the 64 title. We can't really tell at this point how similar to the GameCube's game the Wii's take on the series will be because we simply haven't played it yet. Time will tell, but one thing is for sure, smash bros will sell.
