Today brings with it a fresh new selection of Left 4 Dead gameplay footage with three videos for your viewing amusement. The one above is the 'Hell Hospital' with 'Apartment Defense' and 'Bloody Street Survival' following after the jump. As you can see, there are zombies and guns, which is basically what we've seen in every single Left 4 Dead video so far. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one who needs innovation and brand new gameplay at every turn, but I ask those excited about this one to tread carefully, because so far it looks like guns and zombies are all we're getting.
Thankfully, guns and zombies are usually enough to keep one entertained for a goodly chunk of time, because they are the two greatest inventions of mankind. Just be warned ... Left 4 Dead is showing potential to keep one less than interested after a few hours of playtime. Also, anyone else find that ghostly representation of your partners showing through walls really offputting? Hopefully these are minor gripes for what's still looking like it could be a sweet co-op experience.

It doesn't really matter to me if zombies and such is all I'm getting. This game will rock at LAN parties. That's the only place I really want to play it.
Sorry for the double post and being off topic, but does anyone else find those age gates annoying? I just click on the year and scroll the hell down. God, kids ruin everything...
Jeez Jim, why are you such a downer? This game is a zombie survival game which really seems to have the atmosphere down pat with fast and feral undead creatures. You should be emphasizing Left 4 Dead's strong points rather than talking about the "minor gripes" as you put it.
I don't find it offputting at all. I'd much rather deal with something a little bit different rather than the same old radar. I seriously can't wait for it though.
I loved the beginning of the first video. There were only two zombies in sight and the person playing was just playing around with them hitting on with his gun not letting him get up off the floor and the other shooting it down like it was a fly being swatted. Then suddenly a horde of zombies come flying around the corner mobbing his ass. Now that is awesomely intense.
Went from being taken from a HL2 serverside script, to a mod, to a retail game...I really hope it is as enjoyable as its predecessors from which it spawned - and the coop is worthwhile.
Well it looks hardcore shooter.... but i think its going to feel a little bit arcade... i mean, too much zombies going around and they fell easy (was it me or maybe a shot took down more than a couple?)
Anyway i will try it out, but im not having high hope about it.
Holy crap! I thought Dead Rising had a lot of zombies, this game is like a zombie factory. Anywho...
I'll tell you what really annoys me about some squad based games, they completely ignore one of those most basic rules of squad combat. Which is...DON'T CROSS YOUR SQUAD MATES LINE OF FIRE! Like DuuuH.
Shit man back when I was a kid out west and my dad took me out hunting with my brother that was like one of the first things he taught us. I learned that at like 6-7 years of age. Why so hard to make a game where you're mates don't walk in front of your Uzi?
Anyways wont shooting 1000 zombies for 10 hours kinda get boring and repetitious? Isn't their alkready a free Half Life 2 mod that does this already?
@Holiday
It's because all four characters are being controlled by human beings. Human beings are stupid. It's not the AI director's fault, it's the players' faults.
This still looks hot. I forget which systems it's coming out for, though. 360, I assume? And I love watching these clips. Doesn't bore me at all.
The lighting effects bother me. Specifically the times in the second video when the flashlights' beams didn't penetrate the darkness. I know that helps to raise the tension as you can't see your foes coming towards you. But to me that just seems cheap and immersion breaking.
I played a zombie in the Dawn Of The Dead remake. We had to run around in full make up in 30+ Celsius heat. Not fun, blood goo dripping in your eyes...
The levels do not appear scripted because I saw the subway level twice and both times you see different enemies, different amounts of enemies, and different types, forcing you to act differently.

Shit looks hardcore intense. I'm down.

BALLS!
I soooo want this game. Friday Night Fights is going to be all L4D once this game is out.
God that game looks like LAN party fun!
this looks like a ton of fun. friendly fire is gonna be a bitch!
For some reason, this game looks amazing to play, but is boring to watch. No idea why.
Note to future self on how not to be a dick: Don't use shotgun when trying to clear dead people off team mates!
You know..
I don't know...
I meh'ed.
It's just not appealing to me.
OH MY GOD! THAT GAME LOOKS FUCKING BAD ASS!!

I'm not a downer, I'm just being honest, mate.

.....that looked shitty o.0
Yeah seeing through walls seems stupid and I also found the voices interrupting itself kinda weird but I still looking forward to play it.
Yeah, everyone seems to find it the same way, playing it is amazing, watching it is just boring.
Thinking of endless zombies lurking around every corner and in any shadow seems pretty badass to me.
zombies can's run, jump, or clime.
hope its online...
LOLZ i hope you can turn friendly fire off

MOAR
@Jark212
Yes, there will be online...
If the AI director does it's job, the game should rock. Otherwise, I can see it getting repetitive...maybe...
still, DO WANT

- Can't beat zombie-goodness.

Looks nice, and zombies NEVER get boring. Never. Still, it would be nice if they'd tone down the glowy outlines a bit.

If this is coming out for the PC, then I'm fucking DOWN.
I love co-op as much as I love zombies. I is happy cat.
Just to clarify, I checked Wikipedia and friendly fire CANNOT be turned off. In this situation, I think I like that.
WHY are the zombies running, jumping, and climbing? For fucks sake, that ain't right.
Also...ZOMBIES COMIN THE HELL OUT THE WINDOW! PRESS A! PRESS A! JUMP GYPSY, JUMP!
Hawt
Could use a few sharks...

Yeah i guess you shouldn't be able to turn friendly fire off adds to the realism, oh wait its a zombie game, well at least it makes it harder
@Holiday
...wut? The zombies didn't run in Dawn of the Dead, and zombies SHOULDN'T be running... it just ain't right.
