The first time I played Fatal Frame, I was at a friend's house, having no idea what to expect. I knew it would be scary, sure, but since I had played my share of Silent Hill and Resident Evil, I figured I'd be just fine. That is, until I dropped the controller in fright the first time I saw a ghost. Even worse, it happened multiple times. That's a good way to sum up Fatal Frame -- completely unnerving.
Three new videos have just debuted for Fatal Frame IV, and they look to be upholding the standard of nudging players one step closer to being unable to fall asleep without a nightlight.
Get on with that North American release date, Tecmo!
Although I've been thoroughly creeped out by the previous games, they're all starting to look a bit too similar.... and what's with the flashlight? It's dim enough as it is, but you're telling me you can't even point it where you want with the wii remote? Wouldn't that be the whole point of having this game on the Wii in the first place?
I hope it's just not implemented yet or something, because to not use the remote pointer for such an obvious, simple, intuitive feature would be mind boggling, not to mention an improvement the series has always needed given the general worthlessness of moving the light with the analog stick in the previous games.
I could even forgive the fact that you still move at the speed of mud if they could properly implement the flashlight.
At least the graphics look pretty good (for a Wii game, etc), and perhaps even....better than the PS2 versions!
Oh that was awesome. Love the crazy speaker music an screen effects. AT least there's hope one horror franchise won't suck... and on Wii of all places =X.
I was really excited about this game, but after this trailer I'm not so sure. It seems that they've dealt away with the beautifulll creepy cinematography that made fatal frame special (dutch angles, low angles, careful framings and leading looks, etc). they seem to have thrown out the scary as hell subtle and put dumbified the game for the wii with this behind the character all the time camera (perhaps to make it work with the wiimote). Also, they added a bunch of unnecessary "oh look here!" camera cuts. I seriously hope fatal frame is nothing like the gameplay shot I just saw, because if it is, it's probably gonna suck.
hrm, that trailer was not doin' it for me. and hopefully they'll fix a bunch of those bugs before the US release. didn't really like FF3, so this one BETTER BE GOOD. i'll still prolly get it even if the reviews are bad, always a sucker for survival horror.
Let's hope they get that crap sorted before they ship it here, then.

What, a Samus suit as well? Sweet! :OD

Thanks very much for the video. I am looking forward to the game, but I have to get through the second game first. Also, I feel the need for the character to run faster. But then again, a character with the walking speed of a ricketts-sufferer may provide enough panic for the player when confronting a ghost. :O)
I think the point of the not-so-fast running is to give the player that nightmare feeling...you know, how in a nightmare you can never run fast enough from whatever is chasing you.
This game was top on my list of anticipated titles, but after hearing about the bugs in the Japanese game (hopefully they'll be fixed when it comes over here), I'm hesitant.
And what was with the slow-mo door opening? She moves her arm to the door knob like a robot.

1) Game crashing/freezing bug - there is a workaround but still
2) Ghost database is not working properly
3) Getting caught on invisible objects. Basically you walk next to a table and get stopped like you walked into the table, but you're not touching it.
4) Frame rate issues
Just sounds like a train wreck. Famitsu gave it 34/40 though, so I don't know....
here's the info from nintendofanboy.com:

As for the bugs, as long as they get taken out of our release, then whatever. The Japanese were the guinea pigs for this one.
