Three new Fallout 3 screens: Running out of ways to say 'do want'

9:06 AM on 06.25.2008, Nick Chester 30 comments

     Fallout

Here are some new Fallout 3 screens. OK, let me back up for a second and say we think these are new Fallout 3 screens. That last few times Bethesda Softworks has sent some screens our way, a few of you have yelled "OLD!" in our general direction. In any case, here they are, and not much has changed -- we'd still step on your grandma to get our hands on this game.

What more is there to say really? We had a first look preview of the game about a year ago, and it looked great then. Then, we saw it -- but didn't play it -- again back in April and it was looking even better. Stop teasing us already, Bethesda. Cough up the goods, God damn it.

We'll be playing it soon, though. We've scribbled something that looks like "Fallout 3" in our E3 planners (although it kind of looks like "failrat" upon further inspection), so look for hands-on coverage next month.

Yeah, because we know how bad that "Mad Max" game was. Wait, what?

Also, do want.

I'm sorry, dephect, but there are only so many ways you can show a post-apocalyptic society. Fallout, overall, is vastly different from MM in a million ways.

WANT DO!!!

if this were the gamefaqs fallout 3 xbox 360 board there would be an outcry that fallout 3 is total blasphemy.

Can't wait. Wife still thinks I'm crazy for getting the $120 edition, but I'm fairly certain this will meet my expectations. It's Bethesda, after all.

The screen on the headline is from a GI (or maybe EGM) mag from a couple months back. The other two screens are new I think.

I really can't wait for this. LOL @ Mad Max ripoff. Honestly it's hard to not think of Mad Max when you look at anything that takes place in an apocalyptic world.

I dont mean the game itself.. I have loved the pc versions of Fallout (shakes fist at the horrible xbox version of the game)... Just that damn picture screams Mad Max to me. When I first seen it I was like "OMG NEW MAD MAX MOVIE!!!", HELL why not... all the other old actors are cashing in on their old movies.

Mad Max, huh? It reminds me of something else...

Oh right, the art from previous Fallout games (which was indeed partly inspired by Mad Max)!

Anyway, I can't wait for this. I wasn't a big fan of Oblivion (the DDA, leveling system, and lack of player-spoken dialogue really bothered me -- the world itself was very impressive) but I am hopeful that Bethesda will knock this one out of the park. Just read a great article discussing what aspects of the Oblivion model should be changed for Fallout, and it looks as if Bethesda is addressing many of my concerns. Hopefully STALKER can serve as an instructive example -- the game, although flawed, had a great world and some very interesting gameplay devices.

Dephect is talking about the Picture, guys. Not the actual game. Chill out.

Also, Do want. Don't know if I'll be able to buy the special edition when this is released though...

Ugh... Fall seems so far away....

I've had this reserved since October, then went and upped it to the limited edition and such. My screaming of DO WANT will not cease until it becomes I HAS.

Well, now that Alone in the Dark seems to have gained near-universal derision, I’m hoping that this game will live up to the spot I gave it on my top 10 most anticipated PS3 games...

Of course its Mad Max the old games made jokes about it!
Anyway as someone who downloaded the two old games to get in the mood for this game I, DO DO DO REALLY DO WANT!

My one concern is the shooting mechanic. I hope the shooting mechanics are more Call Duty/Halo than Mass Effect. I thought Mass Effect did on ok job for an RPG game, but it copuld have the shooting could have felt better. Bioshock did abetter job than Mass Effect in my opion in regards to shooting but ME was primarily an RPG so that makes sense. I do hope in Mass Effect2 they make the shooting more fun.

I saw on X-PLay that they nerfed the aiming difficulty and instead control the damage you inflict whioch is a better way to go. I would be annoying if I was aiming perfectly at my target but not hitting accuratly.
