Three bad-ass screens of Akuma in Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix photo

For those of you who have been eagerly awaiting Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, like I have, the screenshots attached to this post will surely cause your pants to tent. Capcom has just put out three brand-spankin’-new images of Akuma in all his high-definition glory, and they look just as awesome as all the other screenshots we’ve seen so far.

Just seeing Akuma standing there with Ryu lying at his feet, along with a purple-hued sunset in the background at a tropical resort, has reinvigorated my anticipation for this game. The second image features Akuma flying toward Ryu on Fei Long’s stage, and the third shows Ken flying backward from a two-hit Akuma combo on Zangief’s stage. You can check out all three full-size shots below, or head over to Lost @ Capcom’s Flickr.

While I'm definitely looking forward to buying this game yet again, the slightly sloppy placement of Akuma standing in the middle of Ryu in the first pic makes me a little worried about whether the game will remain as tight as ever.

Nice! The thing that stands out most to me is how nice the shadows look.

MaxVest - Good catch, man!

I'm still very eager to see more of this game in action whenever it arrives.

Looks absolutely gorgeous.

It's sad that this game looks far more exciting and interesting than Street Fighter IV.

Is it bad that I'm more excited for this game than SFIV?

Can someone post this on the kotaku thread on the ban of the gamertag "gaywood"? I'm banned... you know, politics.

If microsoft is telling the true about sexuality then why are the following gamertags approved

iamstraight
hetero
setsi
stud

of course if you take them out of context they all don't refer to sexuality (i.e. hetero is from Japan).

Akuma and Chun Li? Akumas cheaper than hell in Super Turbo.Hopefully the rebalance mode fixes that for online play.

Am I the only one that thinks the art design is complete shit. Apparently HD means making completely wrong proportions for the human body with muscles that don't exist on any person alive or otherwise.

@Danmartigan They had a child called the dualshock 3. Of course the xbox controller knew it was a result of the wii controller was cheating on it. But no one could argue that the child was perfect for playing 2D fighting games.

@Maxvest: How is it sloppy? Don't you remember the old SF games? It's simply one sprite set in front of the other. If anything, it's the final frame of an animation set, and the victory pose thereof is out of the set area for normal 'in-game' sprite sets. I'm not worried at all. I mean, it IS capcom after all, and they practically invented the genre, right? (or at least did it best!).

Anyway, This is probably the best news to hit me about this game yet. I was on the fence, but now I'm all in, baby.

I'm gonna Shun Goku Satsu some me some nubs!
I can't WAIT!

I just think it looks tooo over drawn. Like you see a picture you like and then you define the lines some more and end up ruining it by drawing over it so much.
That's how it feels to me :(
kadosho's Avatar
kadosho at 05/22/2008 03:53
I'm definitely with Atheistium on this, I'm not excited about this at all. The new screenshots make it seem washed out, and its really dark.

Recently watched an interview with its producer, and it looks just awful(the muscles don't flow too well) *SF3 had more fluid animation than this. Something isn't right here.

Given the amount of time they've spent on this. Maybe they should set it back for awhile.

That's because it is DeeJay's stage. You know, the one who appeared in Super SFII: The New Challengers.

@kadosho:

They aren't adding more frames of animation to this. They're taking the current engine and overlaying it with new graphics and some new gameplay touches. If they altered the number of frames that would introduce some unwanted game elements.
TairaShogunate's Avatar
TairaShogunate at 05/24/2008 03:48
@phamtq:
Unwanted gameplay elements? Akuma was NEVER playable in SF2 Turbo, so we've already got those.

Anyways, I think this "HD" game looks pretty goofy. There was nothing wrong with SF2T before, why make it all...ugly as sin? : (
B-Radicate's Avatar
B-Radicate at 05/24/2008 23:10
Yeah, I owned this game back on the Genesis and Akuma was definitely not a playable character. Are they adding other characters to the game that weren't in it before?

I don't know enough Street Fighter history to know who is and who isn't in each iteration anymore.
