THQ knows who's buttering its bread -- the publisher revealed to CVG that, in addition to its currently announced titles, it's got another World Wrestling Entertainment franchise up its sleeve.
The title will be a fresh game on top of the other franchises previously revealed: WWE Smackown! Vs. Raw, the arcade-style WWE All Stars, and the free-to-play Smackdown! Vs. Raw Online. Online, however, will only be available in Asia; there's no Western version planned at the time. However, those in the West will get this mysterious new game, which Bilson says is "less simmy" than the Smackdown! Vs. Raw titles, closer to the fast-paced arcade style of WWE All-Stars.
"We're growing that brand basically through an alternate SKU every six months," he says of the WWE brand, "the other SKUs [All-Stars and the unannounced game] are more friendly, easier and less simmy than Smackdown! Vs. Raw."
Smackdown! Vs. Raw 2011 is scheduled to hit this fall; WWE All-Stars is out next year.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

The WWE All-Stars sounds like it's alright but in all honesty I couldn't give two fucks about todays wrestlers. Just bring back Bret Hart, Steve Austin, The Kliq etc.
Agreed.
Hopefully they'll remove the limitations on created wrestlers. The Create-A-Story mode from last year would've had much more potential if it hadn't been for that.
I hate the current wrestling titles. No competition with different franchises on different systems like previous generations, so we get shovelware like the Wrestlemania and All-Star titles, and then we get rehashed mediocrity like the SvR franchise. Same animations as old gen versions and dated graphics.
I've played every one of these since the first Smackdown on PS1, and as far as I'm concerned, creative license is the best thing the series has going for it. The gameplay has never been top quality (or even decent, especially in multiplayer); the real fun is in taking your creations online and seeing what others have made.
Really, you have to appreciate a game that lets you wrestle cage matches against Jesus and Shaquille O'Neal. The Smackdown games are among my all-time favorites for that reason alone.
