THQ's UFC 2010 hits stores May 25, 2010 (Update) photo

[Update: THQ has confirmed with us that UFC 2010 Undisputed is indeed scheduled to hit stores on May 25, 2010!

Be sure to check out the game's official reveal tomorrow at the Spike Video Game Awards -- someone might even get choked out.]

According to a GameStop sales flyer sent to us by two Destructoid reader, THQ's upcoming UFC 2010 Undisputed may have a release date -- May 25, 2010.

Recently confirmed for a 2010 release, the title will make its world debut this Saturday at the Spike Video Game Awards. A sequel was inevitable, as THQ's first mixed martial arts title was well received both critically and at retail. UFC 2009 Undisputed was released on May 19, 2009, so THQ would just miss the "two games in one year OMG" mark if this date is to be believed.

We've put in word to THQ for comment, and we'll update if we hear anything.

[Thanks Mark and "anonymous tipster"!]

Oh god. I never thought I'd be a day 1 purchaser of any game with a year tacked onto the end, but here we are.

Anybody know when EA MMA comes out?

Wow, really? Damn.

I hope this update has enough content to justify its purchase for fans of the game.

Here we go again with the Madden comparisons. Madden has been out since the Genesis days, and they have really run out of huge improvements to make, other than changes to the gameplay that really only serious fans will value.

With this series, it obviously hasn't gotten to that point yet. The first game was last year, and there are a ton of things that they can improve upon since they got the basics established with last year's addition.

I know today's consumers are cynical, but good lord, let's give it a few years before we start calling it Madden.

They probably will go back to this two-games-in-a-year scheme with UFC's 2011 release in 2010. And soon enough we'll go back to the same shit, like in 2005 when we had Smackdown 2058.
I just love Yuke's. In fact, it's my favorite developer, because of their productivity. It's like with GT and Forza. It took Turn 10 Studios 4 years to make 2 Forza games, while it takes those asian folks from Polyphony Digital four fucking years to make GT5 and this game will be shit, obviously. What I love in driving simulators the most is crushing mechanics, customizable painting shit and rewinding. And guess what, it's all in Forza 3.
Same here with Yuke's and EA. 99 characters in UFC O9 versus like 20 in EA's MMA. And in UFC 2010 there probably will be like 200 fighters and I don't care if they don't look like themselves and fight the same way.
Can't wait for UFC 2012 release in december 2010.

Wait, people are bitching because a game with a year tacked on it is coming out a year after the first one? Seriously?

Anyway, I think UFC '09 is pretty innovative. I haven't played anything like it. But if you didn't like the first one I would probably suggest that you not buy the second one.

Well I can't disagree with that. I never played the SVR games, but I played WCW vs. NWO Revenge and Wrestlemania 2000 and thought they were pretty good. But that was also like ten years ago.

@1251-

1) I don't give a shit about wrestling games.

2) They made an innovative game with last year's UFC release.

3) You make it sound like this year's release is unwarranted, then you list off several things that needed to be improved from last year's version...proving that an updated version IS warranted. Nice job.

4) The fighting styles most certainly are not the same. I don't even know how you could say that. Depending on what you pick, the punches and kicks are different, the throws/takedowns you can do are different. You can't use the Muay Thai plum unless you're a Muay Thai fighter, etc. You're just making shit up with that one.

5) No one's talking about your "right" to say anything. You can say whatever the fuck you want. And I, in turn, can tell you that you're being stupid.

Furthermore, I don't suppose you could wait to see what they've come up with to improve upon last year's before you begin bitching about it? I know that's not how being a forum troll works, but maybe just this once, you could wait to get some facts before spouting off at the mouth.
