THQ welcomed the gaming press to their "pre-SummerSlam" event last night and dropped a couple of bombshells when they decided to show off WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2010. With SummerSlam only hours away tonight at the Staple Center in downtown Los Angeles, what better way to showcase the "virtual" WWE Superstars and Divas then a SummerSlam teaser trailer. (It's after the jump, joy!)
If that doesn't fill your muscle quota, stay tuned for my full blown video feature, where I almost get my ass kicked by WWE Superstars Matt Hardy, Kofi Kingston, Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase, and other personalities.
All Hogan-bashing aside, however, how is the game shaping up? I love the Smackdown vs Raw games, they've always been a guilty pleasure of mine, and I'm sorta looking forward to this year's iteration.
Haha. Brooke's my girl, she alway needs a good bashing to keep her real. I'm actually really excited about the crazy customization and community stuff they crammed into this years game. I'm cutting up my crazy video feature on it now, it will be up this week! More details to come. =)
I've always enjoyed wrestling games more than wrestling itself. I'm interesting in the customization aspect they're hyping up. Lets see how this turns out.
What was disgraceful in 2009 was the outdated roster
If games like Madden and Fifa can update worldwide rosters and transfers, how hard is it for the makers of SDvR to actually put the wrestlers in the right atire, with the right theme music and on the right brand?
On last year's edition for instance, William Regal was still in his Raw General Manager theme...that was a few YEARS out of date. was ridiculous
On the upside though...these games are always good for a short period of time and I'll definitely be getting it at some point
Hopefully the animations are improved from what we can see on that short video, although the loading times being cut down will make the game a lot more enticing to play
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
the hud improvmements and some control changes look promising though
disappointed but still kinda hyped since wrestling games are always fun (other than the recent svr games and tna impact)

Wow...long post is long.
