This weekend on Dtoid TV: Tribes Ascend w/HiRez

5:30 PM on 07.27.2012 // Rick KingFoom Olson

It's been an amazing week so far at Dtoid.Tv, and we're not done yet! Join us on Mash Tactics tonight, as we'll once again be hosting a part of Destructoid's weekly gaming get together, Friday Night Fights. Get ready to fly, ski, and shoot the evening away in one of our favorite, free to play FPS'es, Tribes Ascend.

In addition, thanks to wonderful peeps over at HiRez, we'll be opening up our very own, private, custom Destructoid server tonight! And we may even have some special guests from HiRez joining us throughout the evening. You won't want to miss this!

Don't forget to tune into our huge variety of shows this Saturday and Sunday as well. Johnny Luchador will be checking out the indie horror game, Slender, on Rad Show:Get There, Phil is going to dive into Alan Wake for the first time on Chill With Phil, Johnathan Holmes will be interviewing Anthony Burch, co-creator of Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin'? on Sup, Holmes?, and that's not even the half of it!

Check out our full schedule for the weekend:

All times are Pacific
4pm - Mash Tactics
It's that time again, time for Friday Night Fights! Join in on the high flying action this evening as we play some Tribes Ascend with the community, and possibly a couple of guests from HiRez.

[Each weekday, join King Foom for an interactive journey of laughter and gaming as he plays titles new, old and downright weird in our flagship variety show. Themed episodes every day, including multiplayer viewer participation, in this community-focused program]
8pm - Substituted Reality
Come hang out with AwDamn tonight as he attempts to finish his on going playthrough of Batman: Arkham Asylum.

[Destructoid's only PC-exclusive gaming show, Substituted Reality showcases a wide variety of games with a particular focus on first-person shooters. Hosted by the lovely, off-beat, AwDamn.]

10am - Saturday Morning Hangover
Grab your coffee, relax, and hang out, as Conrad and Jordan get their MOBA on in the amazingly fun, and addictive, Awesomenauts.

[Ease the pain from the night before with a little schadenfreude as Destructoid's Conrad Zimmerman, Jordan Devore and the lovely Katrina play the week's Xbox Live Indie Games demos and beg for death's sweet embrace.]
12pm - Weekend Escape
Batman fever is in full effect it seems. Today, get your second weekend dose of the caped crusader, as Brett saves the day in Batman: Arkham City.

[Hang out with Destructoid Contributors Brett Zeidler and Caitlin Cooke as they play through entire games with a focus on co-op. It's a safe bet that Caitlin is probably going to get mad at Brett for everything at some point.]
4pm - Chill with Phil
Come by and chill with Phil, as he dives into the bizarre and surreal world of Alan Wake, for the very first time

[Philanth0py hosts this relaxed show in which he performs full game (and series) playthroughs.]
8pm - Substituted Reality
It's another multiplayer evening with AwDamn tonight. Be a part of the action and join in as he explores Pandora with the community in, Borderlands

[Destructoid's only PC-exclusive gaming show, Substituted Reality showcases a wide variety of games with a particular focus on first-person shooters. Hosted by the lovely, off-beat, AwDamn.]

1pm - Sup, Holmes?
Come by this afternoon, and join in on the conversation with Jonathan, as he talks with Anthony Burch, co-creator of the popular web series, Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin'?

[Join Destructoid's most lovable Associate Editor, Jonathan Holmes, for interviews with his friends in the game industry. Participate in the live chat and get your questions answered]

4pm - Rad Show: Get There!
Horror and cowboys should make for quite the mix as Johnny Kuchador starts off the show with the indie title, Slender. Then, to finish off, he'll be more than likely be stacking horses in Red Dead Redemption

[Starring Johnny Luchador and Bill Zoeker, Super Fantastic Videogame Rad Show: Get There! takes a lighthearted approach to gaming, with the guys usually focusing more on breaking games for ridiculous results than accomplishing feats of skill.]
6pm - Retroactive
Tonight Crux goes back the the olden days of competitive first person shooters with the classic and iconic, Quake.

[Retroactive centers around the games of yesteryear. Your host Crux adventures through nostalgic games on the consoles of his childhood.]
8pm - Substituted Reality
Come finish off the week with a chilled out broadcast, featuring  AwDamn, as he pushes further into the first Assassins Creed

[Destructoid's only PC-exclusive gaming show, Substituted Reality showcases a wide variety of games with a particular focus on first-person shooters. Hosted by the lovely, off-beat, AwDamn.]

I'm still trying to figure out how to do it, but for the most part I like what I've seen of the new blog editor. My first blog post using it should go up tomorrow.

Daily VGM #20 (Bonus) - Valak Mountain Night (Xenoblade Chronicles) This theme perfectly captures the essence of Valak Mountain. It feel serene and calm, as well as mountain-esque (lol).

What does one do when MGS V has lost its luster and Persona 4: DAN is growing stale? Listen to Queens of the Stone Age, of course. And wonder; is Steins;Gate worth the asking price? I want it, but not sure if I $30 - $40 want it...

Been in a bit of a rut this week and as such haven't really been satisfied with any of my games. Therefore, I'm going to start Destiny again on my new PS+ account. Any tips given the amount of updates it's had?

Bought a used knockoff game console called the Power Kracker 2013, which claimed to have 76,000 games. The AC adapter was missing and someone had crammed an off-brand GameCube controller inside the box. I don't know what I expected.

I actually love the quests in Novigrad where you write a play. It's a fun and lighthearted break from the tragedy of Baron and horror of Velen and the Crones.

I preordered Tales of Zestria and Disgaea 5 because they were £10 cheaper that way, WHO WANTS TO FIGHT ME HUH?

Man, plague of shadows is gooood. It really fleshes out plague knight and the world by extension, and it has some fun story stuff. Plus plague knight plays differently enough to shovel knight to make whats old feel new again. Deep customization too.
