This week's Virtual Console release begs the question: Where is your god now? photo

Hi Nintendo fans. How's it going? Things going good? How's the Wii treating you? Having fun playing whatever it is you kids play on it? Good. Well, here's another precious gift Nintendo has given to its most loyal fans by way of their weekly Virtual Console release. Are you ready for the excitement you can now download on your Wii?

Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV: Wall of Fire

Yeah. That's it. That's all you get. With that great Nintendo library to pick and choose from, Nintendo has decided to reward their faithful with this Super NES insta-classic. Mmmm, I love the smell of fanboy disappointment in the morning.

Press release:

Today Nintendo adds a classic Super NES(R) game to the popular Wii(TM)
video game system's Wii Shop Channel. The game goes live at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Nintendo adds new games to the channel every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points(TM) to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new game is:

Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV: Wall of Fire(TM) (Super NES, 1-8
players, 800 Wii Points): Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV is a tactical
simulation game in which the player takes the role of a ruler seeking to unite  China in the era of the three kingdoms of Wei, Wu and Shu. The role of the  ruler is to command a range of officers with differing characteristics - some cunning strategists, others brave warriors - and strengthen the military might of his or her kingdom. Foreign policy, involving forming alliances with
certain kingdoms and hatching plans to weaken others, will play a major role
in this process. Once players have developed a powerful enough military, it
will be time to expand their borders through military conquest. Ultimate
victory will only be achieved once all 43 cities in China lie within a
player's control.

Just do what I do, don't get yourself excited for the virtual console releases every Monday. It's easier to get let down when you already have such low expectations.

I really hope Nintendo doesn't plan on doing this every time they want to release one of their SNES RPGS or similar 30+ hour games.

hahahha, fuck... Never played that game cuz it always seemed like the type of game I would have rented as a kid and brought back right away claiming it was "broken" to get another rental. BOOOOOOOOORRRINGGG

I'll be sticking to emulated PS1 games until something decent comes out (Super Paper Mario.) I'm done with VC until something CLASSIC comes out like Punch Out!! or Super Metroid or something like that.

God I wish I had a 360 right about now...

I'm so far behind on VC games I doubt I'll ever catch up. I think there are at least 10 games I plan to pick up that I haven't gotten around to yet. I'll probably get to this one eventually. 3 titles per week was nice when the release list was softer but with SSX Blur, Sonic, Tiger 07, MoH Vanguard, GF:BHE and all the other stuff coming out lately, I hardly have time for the VC anymore but my wife is still loving it.

Ah, you're so right, this is incredibly disappointing. Because we all know the only reason people spent $250 on a new console with a brand new method of playing games was to hook up a wired controller and play games from the past two decades. I mean, don't get me wrong, that Zelda game was alright, but without Dr Mario, I think I'm gonna have to return this.

as of 1 month ago, fuck the Wii

it could be sitting here in my room next to by 360/PS2/DS/PSP

but no...it sits upstairs in the living room cause the only people who acually play are family when they come to visit. and thats probably the next time i even turn the piece of shit on

this is what I camped out 18 hours in front of target for, jsus nintendo. Fanboi s can argue over how many systems have been sold, but the fact still remains. its a Gamecube+ without the games

i feel so fucking cheated what a waste of 250$. i'll probably never even spend that much on games for it over the next 5 years

Sure Summa, let's release all the good games all at one time and then have nothing for the rest of the console's life, rather than releasing VC games steadily ;)

Then everyone can complain about how all the good games were given in the first few months and now there's nothing left to look forward to on Mondeys, oh yeah! Fun times!

I have every NES/SNES rom ever made and I can play them all on my PSP. Even multiplayer. There have only been a few good games worth getting on the VC. Like Contra, Link to the Past, R-type and a few others. Where are the goods? I want River City Ransom, I want Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon for the N64, I want Turok. Super Mario RPG!

Those fucking dicks. I feel cheated as well.

Yeah, it's a Gamecube without the Gamecube games...except for the fact that it has full backwards compatibility that lets it play all Gamecube games? ;)

I'd like to see what you did at the PS2's launch, or the DS's, or the 360's. Those didn't exactly start off with 15 AAA titles in the first 4 months, so you must have just chucked them straight out the window, amirite? lol

I loved ROTK on the ps2, so I'll check this out. Also, I'm probably one of ten people looking forward to the Wii version of ROTK.
I want to know, who the hell is clamoring for new games? Or is not beating your games the new thing?
I have a full time job and a girlfriend, but I think I game a hell of a lot still. I'm still getting through Twilight Princess, Elebits, Tiger 07, Godfather, Super Mario World, Paper Mario: 1000 Year Door, and a few other VC games. I'm curious if people are actually beating games? or just playing them for a few hours before looking for the next big thing.
I feel like I'm freaking inundated with games between my wii and 360, to say nothing of the DS. Drought my ass, gamers are just greedy.

Summa, I loved using my PS-Triplez as a financial holding cell for $800 of my money when I spent two weeks trying to offload the thing on ANYONE on ebay.

Well, at least Urban Champion, king of shitty games, is already on the Wii. We won't have too many (100 or so) more shitty titles to go through.

I actually like the Wii's Virtual console. This game in particular doesn't mean much to me (like most RPG's), but overall the VC has enough to keep me busy for a little while.

Now the line up for the Wii? That needs a lot of work. Must get my hands on Umbrella Chronicles, and Super Mario Galaxy before I'm old and grey.

@Rainbowblack: YES!!!

I hate the Wii. Shitty games, shitty controls, shitty graphics. Enough already. No more excuses, where are the good games? Look at the piss they keep releasing. Cooking Mama? Are you serious? Oh, paper Mario. Good. Another Mario....that was made for the Gamecube. Haven't played that before. Can't wait for Mario, Metroid, Smash Bros. Such new innovative series that are taking huge departures from their previous versions....right. Ok, I'm done :)

Metal Gear Solid...4

Halo....3

Devil May Cry...4

Tom Clancy: insert shit here...4

need I go on? Every console has franchises that they make multiple games for, so.....quit your bitching and just play games

Summa's Nintendo hating persona (real or not) is fucking hilarious. He's all like "HAHAHAHAHA Take THAT Nintedo loving bitches!!"

As a Nintendo fan (among other consoles), I find his posts entertaining as hell. I know the Wii sucks monkey balls right now, but I can deal with it.

Bottom line: If you're ever insulted or offended by anything Summa posts, you're fucking gay.

I felt left in the cold on my 360 forever. I'm not the type of person who wants hundreds of shooters. I've got Gears and Rainbow Six Vegas. I really don't want anymore unless they give me a new experience or bring something new to the table. At least with the Wii I feel like I'm getting something new.
Broham: so you don't like platformers, shooters, sports or role playing games? In all seriousness, what DO you like?

I did not bother reading all the pst. I just want to say this, I think Summa's articles andreviews are disappointing and quite stupid. I have never heard him give crdeit to Nintendo. For crying ou loud he gave twilight princess a 4 out of 10. I see that pretty much all of you worship hi for some odd reason. Whil this is disappointing(even though it is a great game), my point is that Summa or whatever does not seem wortenough to call himself a vido game reviewer. Want to know why? He has one viewpoint on everything. If you look at real reviewers they are not heavily biasd as he is. They see a good thing and give credit where credit is due.

Yes Go on Muffin....go on girl. So, do you put vaseline on the Wiimote before you shove it in your ass? Or are you such a die hard fan and hold such love for Nintendo that you go without? Please, take your 12 year old ass and stare at your Shiggy poster. Maybe if you look at it long enough, he will talk back to you.
