Maybe we don't want one of those cheap and plentiful lcd's you're talking about. I don't want a cheap one, that's for sure. Also, it's easy for you to say we've got to buy something expensive without knowing what the situation is we're in right now. Why bother about someone else's TV anyway? I'd rather play 50 games on a CRT-TV than 1 game on an HD-TV... just sayin.
Hey man to each his own, I wasn't trying to troll on this, but if people are posting pics of there setup they can expect praise and criticism. In my opinion an ideal setup is all about balance to get the best experience, guess i look at things from the perspective of a home theatre enthusiast and you look at it from a collectors point of view, dunno. But you can get a similar size LCD w/ hdmi that does 1080p from newegg for ~$200, that's like 4 new games.
I can see cases for both arguments here (not that its really an argument). I think a lot of people seem to forget that smaller sized LCD TVs even exist, so when they consider the option of buying an LCD they only think about the massive ones which are going to kill your bank account. At the same time, some people done care as much about how polished their games look, as the size or resolution of your TV won't stop you from enjoying the game if its a good title..... unless it's Battlefield. That shit is fucked on a CRT tv :(
Sooooo, for a person like me who only really plays current-gen games, it makes sense to spring for an LCD TV. For someone who still does a lot of retro gaming or what not, maybe it makes less sense. Definitely, if you play a lot of 360 or PS3, it's absolutely worth it. My LCD is only a 32" and it's a couple of years old so it's only 720p, and it's a MASSIVE difference from my old 27" standard definition TV.
@DanMazkin
I'm having a great time playing Battlefield on my CRT-TV. It really depends on what kind of CRT I guess. (p.s. LCD's are more expensive over here in Europe than in the US. I don't want the biggest around because my apt. is rather small. The one I want, a 32 inch Sony Full-HD 100Hz, is currently $1550. That's quite a lot of money.)
In regard to my TV, the picture quality for 360 games is still very good and most of my games were made for SD tvs anyway so I see no point in buying a HDTV right now.
Thanks for featuring my set up Hamza, it was a bit of a suprise!
