This Week in Rock Band DLC: The Offspring, George Thorogood and some scraps photo

Nine new songs are coming to the ever-venerable Rock Band this week. The big headliner band is The Offspring, who will be offering up three songs for download as part of a package. It will include the lovely songs “Gone Away,” “Pretty Fly (For a White Guy),” and “Self Esteem.” All of the aforementioned songs are terrible, but only Nick is the real judge of these things.

There’s also a pretty hefty smattering of titles coming out this week, all at the low price of $1.99 on Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network:

Against Me! – “Stop!”
Free – “All Right Now”
George Thorogood and the Destroyers – “Bad to the Bone”
Harvey Danger – “Cream & Bastards Rise”
Screaming Trees – “Nearly Lost you”
Static-X – “Push It”

All of these songs will be available October 7th on Xbox Live Marketplace and October 9th on the PlayStation Store. They can be played with any one of the plastic instruments strewn around your gaming room.

The Harvey Danger and Against Me gets me a bit excited, but the rest of the tracks can suck it.

It being my penis.

Not sure if you caught that.

Looks like I'm buying me some Offspring. 90s nostalgia, here I come!

Shame they haven't put "The Kids Aren't Alright" in this pack. Here's hoping it shows up in a second pack, or maybe they think it's a desirable enough song to sell only as a single.

I agree with Necros. "The Kids Aren't Alright" is awesome.

I'm really disappointed with the Against Me! pick. Stop! is an awful song.

Holy fuck that list is awesome, and fuck you, Brad! The Offspring are awesome. Man, I used to think you were cool . . .

Also, Cream & Bastards Rise gives me at least a half-staff in my pants. I fucking LOVE Harvey Danger.

@Oni - Okay, I'll admit that Pretty Fly (For a White Guy) made me laugh. Hell, it even got stuck in my head.

The Offspring are amazing, but Pretty Fly for a White Guy sucks in so many ways. It's a drag, cause many people know them from that one song.

Also, Rock Band needs more ska.

Ok you can't refer to Static X as scraps man... and Nearly Lost You is a pretty good song off the Singles Soundtrack. But I agree with Putthe...too long of a name above me, some of Static X's songs are pretty fucking cool.

I saw them with Slayer and Pantera back in 2000...wow...I know they play with a backing track sometimes, but it was still a great show!

Wait...I didn't read all of the story first..."All of the aforementioned songs are terrible, but only Nick is the real judge of these things."

I'm sorry but seriously...saying that Free is terrible with All Right Now is like saying Slow Ride is shit and School's Out by Alice Cooper is garbage...

Not trying to pick a fight here but seriously man saying Offspring is the only quality pick in there is pretty pigheaded.

So far I've seen Megadeth, Chili's when they were great, Static X, Offspring, and a few others that have been a surprise...I am, and I can't believe I'm sayin this, pretty impressed with the licensing from MTV on Rockband. Some Tool, Opeth, Death, Led Zepplin, Carcass, Faith No More, Slayer, Soundgarden, Strapping Young Lad, Down, Pantera, Danzig, Alice In Chains, Anthrax, Cannibal Corpse, Sepultura, Corrosion of Conformity, etc etc... would be awesome.

In all honesty to hit a wider audience(I know my tastes are selective) some Corrosion of Conformity, Powderfinger, Tragically Hip, Ghandharvas, Spacehog, Filter, Ministry, Grapes of Wrath, Incubus(COME ON WHO DOESN'T WANT THAT!), Pink Floyd( THIS IS PARAMOUNT!!!! MORE FLOYD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), Johnny Cash, Iron Maiden, Monster Magnet, Pearl Jam, Perfect Circle, Prince (PURPLE RAIN RECORD!! CMON!), Queensryche, Stabbing Westward, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, Tea Party, Temple of the Dog, Threat Signal, Treble Charger, Type O Negative(Try to hit those lows)...there's tonnes I know.

But who in their right mind wouldn't get any Ugly Kid Joe. GO GET THEIR STUFF ON HERE! Totaly party music.

K sorry for the rant and list... Cheers!

I wish they'd do more 90s Seattle Grunge. More songs from the Singles soundtrack, please. "Breath" by Pearl Jam," "Would?" by Alice in Chains.

Argh, they coulda done She's Got Issues instead of White Guy if they wanted something catchy. Other two songs are allright at least. Offspring is win.

Also I remember that fucking Static-X song, though I have no idea why. I think coz' it had some crazy video or something.

There's already Iron Lung and Creep by Radiohead. That said, you can never have enough Radiohead.
Push It is a pretty cool song - plus Bad To The Bone should be fun. Definately won't be getting All Right Now though...
